Staying at Gora Hanaougi was the highlight of our 3 week trip in Japan. We had the most exceptional experience here and the environment is perfect in that it gave us the full appreciation of what top quality onsen ryokan is like in Japan.

This was an incredible, 11/10 experience. I recommend to anyone visiting Japan to incorporate a stay at Gora Hanaougi in Hakone as part of their trip. Spacious, clean and traditional room with a private Onsen that has a perfect view of the mountain ranges of Hakone. The views are absolutely breathtaking and the Onsen was incredibly relaxing. The Kaiseki meals were definitely adventurous, but incredibly fresh and well prepared and we enjoyed them very much. Recommend if you are an adventurous eater and/or enjoy Japanese food very much. Customer service was also top tier. They picked us up from Gora station for free and also arranged for a cab for us to get directly from the Ryokan to Odawara Station as we were trying to catch a train. We hope to return as guests of this Ryokan in the future.

Incredible stay. Very beautiful property and cozy rooms. Truly an unforgettable experience, we didn’t want to leave. They offer shuttle service which is recommended as the walk up is very steep. We had the private onsen and loved it. Come hungry as the kaeseki is very filling and you’ll want to try it all. Incredible staff, service, and attention. Would love to visit again.

Truly a fantastic experience. From the moment we got there we were given nothing but the highest level of service. All of the staff were very attendant, welcoming, and very apt in speaking English (though we did our best to speak in Japanese). We had the same hostess taking care of us through check-in, all of our meals, check-out, and even guiding us to our next destination; the dedication and personalization of such an experience was truly heartfelt and I wish we could thank her again. Speaking of the meals, they were also top-of-the-line full course experiences that gave you no room for wanting more: both delicious and filling. To top it off, the room we stayed in was immaculate and nailed the traditional feel you would want from a ryokan, accompanied with an awe-inspiring view from our outdoor onsen. All-in-all, it was a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting Hakone.

If I could ever rate a stay six stars - this is the place. Whatever you think a 5 star stay means - prepare to be blown away. This ryokan stay is in the most exquisite location in the mountains of hakone. The best onsen out of the 10 onsens we stayed in and the best meals in two weeks in Japan. This is the ryokan meant for a shogun.

Staying at this ryokan was the highlight of a 2-week trip to Japan. The staff were stunning and remarkable in their attentiveness to every single detail. We had a little trouble getting there as it required a long bus ride up the mountain and then we took a wrong turn on foot and got lost (but that was our fault). When we arrived, the staff were waiting and came running to us to assist us with our luggage and provide a smooth transition into the tranquility of their "home." We had the same nakai-san throughout our stay. She tended to our every need from breakfast through dinners that extended into the late evenings. She was gracious in every way and made us feel comfortable. The food was the best we had throughout our tour of the country. We had a private onsen that could have been a little cleaner, but the public bath was wonderful on both gender's sides. The rooms were spacious, clean, and stocked with every amenity we could ask for. We opted for full body massages which were sadly not good at all, but that was the only aspect of our stay that was anything short of stellar. We will definitely go back when we return to Japan. If you're staying in Hakone, I can't imagine finding a better or more wonderful accommodation!

Amazing experience for couples. Great rooms with private hot spring and nice view overlooking the mountain range. Exquisite omakase experience with seasonal menu prepared by the head chef. The ryokan had every little detail thought out from when you first step in through to your departure.

I had a wonderful stay at Gora Hanaougi. It's set in a beautiful, private location in the mountains. The staff was extremely welcoming and kind. The private onsen in the room overlooking the mountains was incredible and the meals were delicious. I definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a peaceful, relaxing escape!

Wonderful, ***personalized*** hospitality begins right when you step out of their Gora station shuttle. Excellent multi course dinner and breakfast. Lower floors have a large patio space with a private onsen. Plan on checking in at 3pm to really enjoy a full experience.

Absolutely loved staying at Gora Hanaougi. All the staff were lovely and attentive. The rooms were relaxing and loved the individual onsen. As an aside, we did not realise that the hotel is next to one of the cable car stations, which made it easier to get around!

Wonderful stay..
This was a definite highlight. Warm, calm, attentive service, beautiful surroundings and the luxury of your own private “Onsen as well as a lovely public one. Dining options were a special treat but be hungry - the food is plentiful. Location to train, busses, ropeway and the hotels own shuttle is a big plus. Would happily recommend as a worthy indulgence and would like to make it back again sometime.
