The best area to stay in Guano is generally around the central Plaza 20 de Diciembre, as this is where you'll find the main activities and amenities.

This central area is the heart of Guano, with the impressive "Iglesia Matriz de Guano" (main church) dominating the plaza. The streets immediately surrounding the square, such as Calle 20 de Diciembre and Calle 10 de Agosto, are home to local eateries, artisan shops selling traditional textiles and leather goods, and the municipal market. It's a very walkable area where you can easily explore the town's key landmarks.

For travellers looking to experience the local culture and have easy access to the town's offerings, staying near Plaza 20 de Diciembre is ideal.

The best time to visit Guano is during the dry season, which typically runs from June to September and again from December to February. This period offers the most pleasant weather for exploring the town and surrounding areas.

During these months, you can expect clearer skies, less rain, and generally milder temperatures, making it ideal for outdoor activities like visiting the Guano's main square, Parque Central, or exploring the nearby landscapes. The drier conditions also make travel on local roads more comfortable.

For those interested in local festivities, visiting in December allows you to experience the Christmas celebrations and the New Year's Eve traditions, which are often quite lively in Ecuadorian towns.
