About this property

Ocean View Home with Private Hot Tub, Deck & Fireplace - Walk to Cooks Beach

  • Summary:

Small-town charm meets rugged coastline in this Gualala getaway. Soak in the hot tub under a canopy of stars and redwoods. A warm fire anchors cozy evenings after forest hikes. Room for 8 in this 3-bedroom home. Walk to St. Orres restaurant. All other dining, river access, and Gualala Point Regional Park are a short drive away. Art galleries, river trails, and the wild Pacific are all within reach. Morning mist drifts through the treetops as deer graze in the meadow beyond.

    The Space:

Wonderfully bright, modern, and situated within sight of the wild Pacific Ocean, this home sits close to the bluffs just north of downtown Gualala. You'll be able to walk less than a quarter-mile to Cooks Beach by day, and listen to the soothing sounds of the ocean while soaking in the private hot tub at night. This single-level home is a delight for beachcombers, hikers, and those looking to explore the Northern California Coast. The main living area is one open, light-filled space with two distinct sitting areas - one with a sectional sofa positioned by the gas fireplace, and another with a sofa and armchairs facing the flatscreen TV. Three sets of glass doors open onto the wrap-around deck - a spot to bring your morning coffee, your binoculars, or your evening glass of wine. The kitchen is airy and roomy, well-equipped with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and an island with a breakfast bar for six. But then again, you'll never fail to find a comfortable place to sit, whether you're gathering around the formal dining room table for 10 or sharing a casual lunch at the kitchen table overlooking the ocean. After an evening soak in the hot tub outside on the deck, you can retire to one of three bedrooms, including a main suite with a private bathroom and direct access to the deck and hot tub. Additional amenities include a private washer/dryer.

    PROPERTY AMENITIES

    -- Private hot tub

    -- Gas fireplace

    -- Garage parking

    Guest Access:

    The Neighborhood:

Your Gualala home base puts you a short drive from local restaurants, the Gualala Arts Center, and grocery shopping. Explore stunning beaches at Gualala Point Regional Park

    Getting Around:

From San Francisco, the drive is about 2.5 hours via Highway 101 to Highway 1. Fly into Santa Rosa's Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport (STS), about 90 minutes east, and drive the coast from there. Having a car opens up the entire Mendonoma Coast.

    Other Things to Note:

April through June brings stunning wildflower displays along the bluffs and throughout Gualala Point Regional Park. The warmest months run June to September. Coastal fog is common early in the day but gives way to sunshine by afternoon.

Gualala Oceanside retreat

Our family had a great stay in an amazing area, it was a wet and rainy weekend but we still were able to enjoy ourselves with a relaxing weekend in an enjoyable place that was spacious, accommodating and beautiful. The shared living area made it great for family game nights, nice views from the kitchen to enjoy our morning coffee and a cozy fireplace for and evening wine and the topper was being able to relax in the hot tub! Would definitely recommend

Voyagers Paradise

The home is very large with open space with the kitchen and living room. The bedrooms are large as well. Spacious deck with ocean view. The biggest downfall was that the fireplace didn’t work. But overall we all enjoyed our stay.

Traveling Sisterhood

The stay was awesome, location wonderful, great room size much appreciated. Some cleanliness issues noted; the dishwasher didn't seem to clean as well as it should, bathrooms lacked ample toilet paper for the number of guests. Quite a lot of dust was noted, and those gorgeous large windows needed a good cleaning. We loved the privacy, but a pine tree in the driveway brushed against our vehicle. This is a nice rental in spite of these things. The beds were very comfortable, and we enjoyed ourselves so much. Thank you!

Perfect for families!

This house is well maintained! It is very spacious allowing everyone to have their own spot to relax and not be on top of each other. The hot tub was also enjoyable after hiking & exploring during the day. We enjoyed the view of the cove watching the tide come in & out through the day!

Vacationer's Paradise!

We loved our stay! Loved the hot tub and enjoyed snuggling in blankets on the deck to enjoy the view. St. Orres across the street is fascinating. The Wedding we hosted there was AMAZING! Convenient walk to the venue (right across the street)! :)

Fabulous Gualala Home

This is an amazing house, with a view of the ocean and walking distance to a secluded beach. The size, decor, and location cannot be better. A very large kitchen and common area with room for your entire family. We enjoyed opening the many sliding doors to let the ocean sounds in. The hot tub was enjoyable after a day of hiking. Bring some camp chairs to enjoy the deck; other than that, you won’t need anything else

Can’t wait to return!

This was the perfect spot for our family of 6! Plenty of room to spread out, but also the perfect space to be together all in one place to spend time, cook meals, play games and watch movies together after spending the day out exploring the nearby beaches and hikes. The view is spectacular, and if that’s not enough it’s less than a 10 minute walk down to the beach to hear and see waves up close. Based on other reviews we brought camp chairs for the deck but did not need them as there are chairs on the deck now.

Wedding at Oz Farm

The property had some issues. There were some dishes (pots and pans) that were unclean. The skylights needed to be swept of cobwebs. My spouse washed all of the windows on the West side of the house. The TV did not work and, last, the bed in the master bedroom was broken. You did send someone out, Herb, to fix the bed and we had him change out the shower head in the hall bathroom. My adult son is in a wheelchair and was able to get around the house quite well. With some minor changes, this house could be listed as an ADA home. It would involve adapting the shower heads so they could be reached and adding grab bars around the showers and toilets. The house accommodated our family group well and my grandsons enjoyed going down to the beach.

Sea Breeze Vacation

A tidy, spacious wide open area greeted us upon entering the house. It is divided into three large areas the kitchen, fireplace, and tv area. We enjoyed all three living spaces. In the kitchen there was plenty of pots and pans to cook with and the beginning spices to create a gourmet meal. The collection of mugs is fantastic with each of us choosing our favorite and the shell and starfish shaped plates fit the sea coast setting. We ate all our meals at the table overlooking the ocean and waves crashing along the beach; beautiful! The fireplace area was great for gathering to play one of the many unique games as well as old time favorites or just to relax and watch the fire with a mug of tea/coffee and a book. The kids enjoyed playing the video games in the tv area and in the evenings we took in a movie. ( just a heads up at times the internet was not always accessible so streaming a movie won't always work but there are plenty of DVDs to choose from). The hot tub was fantastic after a day of hiking whether it be one of the many beaches nearby, the bluff trail starting at the regional park and headed through Sea Ranch, or Salt Point State Park and Fort Ross. All of these we visited. The rooms are a treat too with each having their own distinct ambiance: Asian, African, and Nautical. lastly the location was an easy access back onto highway 1 to start any days excursion. A lovely vacation spot and a hearty thank you to the owners for offering their house as a vacation destination.
