Simple but Beautiful
This is a very beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. It is like a mountain lodge. There are communal seating areas throughout. There is an attached restaurant but we didn’t have a chance to eat there. The room was pretty clean. There was no rubbish (garbage, trash) bin in the room which meant that your only option is to use the customary Greek toilet paper bin which we would have preferred to keep only to that use. There aren’t any extras in the room. The TV is a 12” screen CRT(tube) type television. That didn’t matter to us as we didn’t want to watch TV and found everything to be sufficient. There were beautiful wooden shutters that opened a large window. We had it open most of the time for the fresh mountain air. I don’t believe there was AC but the temperature is milder than on the coast. Ample free parking and a shuttle to the gorge should you desire, though you need to sign up for it as it only makes trips at scheduled times. The only complaint I’d have is the same as almost every accommodation that I’ve experienced in Greece. I am 6ft/182cm and 150lb/68kg so fairly light and thin. I have found these and other beds here to be extremely firm. For my weight and build, and as a side sleeper, the beds feel like wood with a blanket on top for cushion. I would not take off any points for Neo Omalos though, because that has been my experience everywhere in Greece.

Clean room, good restaurant. But no housekeeping the next day. And no towels when I checked into my room. A very hot summer day, and that’s when I found out that none of the hotels in Omalos have air conditioning. Lesson learned. Also, no grocery stores or mini markets in the village. Fortunately the hotel has a snack/bar area downstairs to purchase snacks and drinks.

Peaceful Omalos
I stayed for 3 days in June. The hotel is very nice. I had a room at the back overlooking the fields where I could listen to the sheep bells and look at the mountains. Room is spacious, nicely decorated and immaculately clean. I am a light sleeper but it was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable so I slept well. The breakfast was enormous and delicious. The owner's kind wife gave me fruit. I would recommend staying for more than one night to maybe walk the Irini gorge ( quite easily accessible by bus or car ) and then Samaria on second day. Relax and enjoy this peaceful place .....

Very friendly hotel in a lovely area
The Neos Omalos was unsophisticated, but a really really nice hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Meals were local dishes, full of flavour and interest. Packed lunches were provided on the days we were out walking. The local area is outstanding for walking, scenery and especially the wild flowers. Samaria Gorge was still shut when we were there, but there was so much else to do we could have stayed much longer than the week we were there. Will definitely come again.

Ideal jumping off point for Samarian Gorge. Hotel was very well kept and quiet. George and staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant was good. Breakfast was available at 6:45am, with the free van to the gorge starting at 7:30am (before the insane crowds and heat). Would definitely stay here again.

Great Base To Start The Samaria Gorge Walk
I stayed at the hotel in order to get an early start at the Samaria Gorge walk the following morning as they run a free shuttle bus from the hotel to the head of the gorge from 7.30am.

Je crois que cet etablissement restera un gros coup de coeur de notre sejour en Crète. Etablissement familial, tres bonne cuisine , sourires, accueil chaleureux, Merci a cette famille et à Babyss le grand pere qui a partagé sa passion de l'apiculture avec mon mari et comme interprète sa petite fille. Merveilleux séjour idéalement situe pour Samaria
Très bon séjour. Chambre très propre. Personnel très accueillant. L hotel proposeune navette gratuite allant jusqu au départ de l'entrée des gorges. L'hotel est idealement situé poue visiter les gorges de Samaria. Petit déjeuner très complet. Le restaurant de l'hotel est excellent avec une cuisine familiale. Allez y les yeux fermés.

Emplacement idéal pour faire les Gorges de Samaria
Hôtel situé à Omalos, lieu dépaysant avec un restaurant traditionnel. Il est situé à 10 minutes en voiture du début de la randonnée des Gorges de Samaria (3 navettes prévues le matin par l'hôtel pour s'y rendre). Le petit déjeuner est très complet et les hôtes y sont très accueillants. La cambre est spacieuse et propre.

If you're going to Samaria, you should 100% stay here, no hesitation. The rooms are clean, it's near the hike, the food is so good - and the people are incredible. The second day of our stay, I had a flat tire near the hotel. The staff (possibly the owner) went above and beyond to help me: he called and successfully followed-up with the car company which led to them simply exchanging the car for a new one (they had previously told me I'd have to go on a 1+ hour ride with the truck, then wait for the repair, then come back in the middle of the night); he helped me find my girlfriend who I was headed to pick up (called the harbor in the city where she arrived to find her) and called a taxi company to pick her up and bring her back to the hotel - all of this without even having had to ask. This took 1+ hour of his time and he refused that I give any sort of compensation AND he initially didn't even know I was already staying at the hotel while he helped me - a very generous and kind man and staff. We were already extremely satisfied with the hotel, and were glad to come back here after a long hike - now, we'll make sure we visit again, and we encourage you to do the same if you're ever in the region.

Nice family run hotel with friendly service
Nice family run hotel with friendly service. Its location is perfect for the hike in the Samaria gorge (a free shuttle from the hotel was available daily during our stay) or around the Omalos Plateau. The restaurant serves a good breakfast and also lunch/dinner with tasty local food.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. Ended up staying 3 nights instead of 1. It’s an older hotel but clean and spacious with super friendly and helpful staff. A great place to stay to explore Samaria and the white mountains.

hotel calme et accueil cordial ,chambre spacieuse et lumineuse , petit déjeuner correct il faut savoir qu'il est servi à partir de 7h pour les randoneurs et une navette gratuite à partir de 7h45 pour monter aux gorges.Le restaurant est correct et pas de connexion wifi dans les chambres

Endroit parfait pour visiter les gorges de Samaria(navette aller gratuite) et le jardin botanique. Service parfait, repas servie à 23h. Un peu de bruit(portes qui claquent pas mal).

Albergo situato nella piana di Omalos, ideale per visitare le gole di samaria e di agia irinos e figou. Dispone di un servizio navetta ed è possibile telefonare se si arriva a piedi da una delle gole o da una salita in montagna. Alla mattina sono previsti 3 viaggi verso le gole di samaria e il monte Gigilos. Persone molto cortesi, cucina semplice e buona con prodotti locali.

Hotel sympathique et serviable
Nous avons passé un bon séjour dans cet hôtel. L'environnement est très calme car très petite ville +++ Peu de restaurants autour et celui de l'hôtel est correcte pour les plats locaux mais nous deconseillons la carte internationale. Le personnel était très sympathique et serviable: nous avons été changé de chambre pour des soucis logistiques et avons donc été déclassé mais le personnel a réagi vite en nous remboursant immédiatement et en prenant en charge par exemple la nourriture que nous avions dans leurs frigos. Pas de climatisation mais il fait beaucoup plus frais dans les hauteurs donc pas dérangeant. Très bon séjour globalement seul bémol le restaurant.

Mooi in de bergen
Dit hotelletje lig in de bergen. Als je uit de kloof omhoog komt, kun je aan het einde van de Fygu kloof opgehaald worden. De volgende dag wordt je bij Samaria afgezet. Eten prima, slapen lekker fris.
