Experience the wild and rugged northwoods in this newly built property overlooking Lake Superior through the trees offering WiFi, electric heat and fans for guests to enjoy. There is no TV as we hope you take the time to unplug, enjoy nature. You can always fire up your laptop if you like. The night sky offers the amazing Milky Way, constellations and satellite viewing - you likely can get a glimpse of falling stars! There is plenty of free parking with a 100 yard walk up to the bunkhouse nestled in the woods (soon you will be able to drive to bunkhouse). We recommend you arrive during daylight hours. There is electricity, a dining area, kitchen area, log twin size bunkbed with a twin trundle, custom mattresses on the L dinette area sleeps two additional people and private area with an electric toilet and a camp shower (running hot and cold water soon!). The bunkhouse sleeps up to 5. We provide drinking water and wash water but there is no pressurized running water at this time, so no piped shower or faucet flow but we are working on that being completed soon! The soothing atmosphere of the bunkhouse will provide a peaceful retreat for your getaway. Owner has a cabin nearby on the property and is, at times, on premises should you have questions or need help with anything. We look forward to hosting you at our bunkhouse.

There is a front and back door to the bunkhouse, a wonderful light and airy feel to the space and yet it is cozy and comfortable. We know you will enjoy your stay here on the rugged granite and treed hillside of Lake Superior in it's natural state. We are located across the highway from the lake shore but you can still hear waves rolling onto the beach as well as the wolves howling their night song...and sometimes during the day as well. Due to severe rain and wind storms last summer we are still in the process of working on grounds, including driveway and better views of the lake. In the meanwhile it is a wonderful little cabin to enjoy.
Judge Magney State Park and Naniboujou Lodge are just down the road. If you bring bikes you can ride the under 3 miles down the road to it and hike the awe inspiring trail to Devil's Kettle! Just a short 20 min drive north is American Falls, a boardwalk in to a gorgeous falls on the Pigeon River that is beautiful at all seasons (and is a great Walleye fishing river downstream). We are 17.3 miles north of Grand Marais so just a 15-20 minute drive south and you are there and can enjoy all the GM has to offer. Most weekends in the summer there is something going that is a fun filled day. Then you can return to the natural woods of the area for rest and relaxation. Our property connects to a 200 acre parcel of woodland that is trust land so you can hike or hunt that area right from the bunkhouse. There are no trails or roads in that 200 acres. Between our bunkhouse and GM there are beaches where you can enjoy the shore, rock hunt, read a book or just take in the calm or lapping waves. We invite you to come and relax for awhile.

Great place to stay! Very happy with the bunkhouse and the amenities. The host was VERY communicative about the property and what to expect which was great for us. We would happily stay again. No running water (yet, they might in the future), but we knew that going in and it wasn’t an issue for us at all. Close to grand marais and the Canadian border.
The cabin is very clean and well put together. It's in a great location between Grand Marais and Grand Portage, very secluded off the main highway, giving it an off the grid experience that I was looking for, the host was very communicative and responds very quickly if you have any questions, if you're looking for a good location with little/low light pollution to star gaze this is an amazing location to do so. Overall just a great experience for my wife and I.
The cabin was clean, sunny and bright with comfortable beds. Our host, Julie, was responsive and helpful with any questions we asked. She advised us well with getting to the cabin during daylight hours as the walk up to the cabin would have been difficult navigating for the first time at night through the woods. The cabin was about a 20 minute drive to Grand Marais, near great hiking trails and views of Lake Superior. We had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed the cabin!
Nice cabin, but several issues to be aware ofThe cabin is pleasant and you can see the effort that went into it. However, a few basics were missing when we arrived in the late afternoon/evening after a few hours’ drive. The kitchen lacked essentials (e.g., dishwashing supplies), and the two 5-gallon water containers inside were essentially empty. Outside there were only two filled containers, plus a similar amount set aside for dishwashing/showering only. The host was responsive and, for the remaining days, directed us to pick up another container from their other cabin—but I still had to haul and refill water myself every day.We often tent-camp with kids and are comfortable with “basic,” but this amount of water felt below basic if you plan to cook even simple meals.Checkout instructions were also more demanding than typical. For example, guests are expected to remove ash from the electric toilet during their stay and at checkout—this isn’t standard in our experience. These expectations, along with the water situation, should be made clear at the time of booking.
