Personable and authentic staff; sleep in the jungle and get to view everything (sloths, monkeys, etc) others pay guides to see; footsteps from a stunning beach, this is a truly an all in one Costa Rica experience. But as the website notes, this is for those that want a more raw experience, so don’t expect the hottest showers or finest linens. But you are very well taken care of and staff are very responsive. They’ll provide the inside scoop on trusted contacts for excursions. If you want to help support local, book now. Andrea prepares a home cooked breakfast each morning with locally sourced food items (cacao, eggs, coffee even the peanut butter is from local farmers) and has all the connections you could need for building a holiday you’ll never forget. "The Pangean was a beautiful place in a perfect location. Your not right on the beach, but it's not far. Close to everything, so we walked most of the time that we were there.The room was spacious and clean. The pool was very clean and felt wonderful and the property was quiet. We would stay there again as the town there isn't nearly as busy as all the ones that we had to pass in order to get there."

"This review is delayed but necessary! Our experience with this VRBO was nothing short of perfect. The property manager was unbelievably attentive as we had a few hiccups. She responded right away and fixed things immediately - going as far as sending a driver late at night to get our wash and finish drying it at her personal house when the dryer went on the fritz! Other than that amazing service, the house and property are more than we could have imagined. On our first day, we spotted a sloth hanging out in the tree just outside of the pool area, a coati walked through the courtyard one night, so many singing howler monkeys, toucans, parrots, lizards, salamanders and just amazing jungle wildlife. Sitting under the patio roof, listening to music through Alexa and just observing was my favorite part.Despite the unprecedented pouring rain we had for most of our week there, we still had a blast! We became one with the humidity and relished in the massive showers after our jungle expeditions. The fact that we could open the floor to ceiling window/doors and look at banana trees while we showered was sensorily beyond anything I've ever experienced. The short walk to the beach was always filled with discoveries of wildlife or cheerful passersby. There are some stationary beach chairs at the beach entrance that were useful. The ocean was wild while we were there, due to the storms, but it was still incredible. It was truly one of the best experiences we've ever had. "

"KAÑIK is magical! Sebastian, Javier and crew made our experience beyond amazing. The service they provided felt like having a personal concierge. Want a dinner restaurant recommendation? They’ve got you! Not sure of the best transportation options? No problem! Want a Spanish conversation partner? You got it! The hotel itself is very intimate with only 7 casitas and surrounded by the most thoughtful landscaping to provide privacy on each house’s patio. The electrical is a bit funky. Mind you, electricity only became available to that region in the ‘80’s, so it makes sense that there might be capacity/load issues. It was typical for that entire region. Despite that, the accommodations are fabulous. And the beach. No words for that! Approximately 150 meters to walk there. "
