"Henry the manager was welcoming, friendly & very attentive, making sure I had everything I needed. I had a clean & comfortable room with a kettle, free tea & coffee, a marvellous little fridge that kept beer & milk beautifully chilled, and also freeview TV. My room was near the front door of the lodge, one of 4 rooms in the same corridor. There were two seperate shared bathrooms with shower & toilet facilities that were cleaned every day, so more than sufficient for the total number of guests. The communal dining room had a microwave, fridge & kettle, and crockery plus cutlery were provided and washed up by Henry. Behind the dining room was attached a conservatory & children's play room, plus an outside seating & eating area. So my 3 night stay at Church Lodge, Grain came to just under £100 for the room with sone self catering facilities. There's no cooker provided, however the microwave was ample for my cooked food requurenents. There are two very nearby supermarkets within easy walking distsnce, including a Co-Op with long opening hrs, a pub serving food, and a fish & chip shop also serving kebabs. Lower Stoke village is a 5 mike drive from Grain and has 2 pubs, a Chinese takeaway and an Indian takeaway, plus another busy fish & chip shop also serving pizza & kebabs. Great place to visit for peace & quiet, no crowds of tourists and a welcome decent nights sleep! Excellent value & amenities- can't go wrong! Steve T 😎"

"I have stayed in youth hostels I would rate higher than the Hope Hotel. Shower didn't work, lamp didnt work, toilets didn't flush, music so loud from downstairs till 12.30am that couldn't hear TV and the shower door was rattling. Cabinet was broken and floor was dirty. Asked if could swap rooms and told what did I expect staying in a pub on a Saturday. There were rooms available and the woman was just rude. No sleep, no shower and just crap. The breakfast staff were nice and that the only positive. Wouldn't recommend at all and will share with everyone at our new travel Uk business to avoid at all costs."

"This place is a little hidden gem. An ideal stop-over in an area that struggles to offer B&B's of this high standard. The room was excellent - very clean and well appointed, the staff were pleasant and attentive and the breakfast was perfect. The area is quiet, so don't expect much to do in the evening unless you want to drive, but some pleasant walks. I was recommended a good place to eat within a few minutes walk (The Flying Dutchman), but if you want to use one of the many takeaways that are close, the staff will let you use the dining room/bar area and provide plates and cutlery. Some evenings there is food on offer (such as a burger night in the bar), but best to check first. I will certainly use this place to break my journey again the next time I am in the area."

"I highly recommend this cottage! Everything was exactly as described — clean, cozy, and very well equipped. It’s a perfect place to relax, whether for a short or longer stay. A big plus is the peaceful location and overall comfort of the place.Special mention goes to Terry — communication was quick, smooth, and very helpful at every stage. We felt really well taken care of.We would definitely come back again!"
