We recently had two stays at the hotel for one night each. The resort on paper looks fabulous but sadly is let down by many failings.
On our first stay our arrival was okay, the room was excellent, the food was good, but the service in the restaurant was very poor. The water features by the entrance were very dirty and the swimming pool a disgusting shade of green.
On our second stay our arrival coincided with another small group and it was clear the staff were totally unprepared for both ourselves and the other group, such that we both had to bring our own luggage into the lobby. The room was again excellent, and the restaurant service well below standard again apart from breakfast where there was a very good young waitress from Indonesia serving us. The food was good but not having any bananas or orange at breakfast was very disappointing. Fortunately the swimming pool was now much improved as were the water features. Also on the positive huge credit must go to your staff member Charline who was attentive, very knowledgeable and took time out to give us an enthralling tour of the property. She deserves huge credit.
As a 5-Star hotel Mangala Resort meets this grade in parts, but in others fails miserably. The key to the failings are the staff who are clearly willing and try but they don’t appear to have had sufficient training. Having Nepalese staff on the front line who speak no Malay and only some English is not really appropriate for a hotel of this quality.
