"The room was very clean, and we enjoyed the fireplace and whirlpool. My husband forgot his laptop at the hotel and they were kind enough to send it to him (it worked fine). Very nice staff and very helpful. Would stay here again."

"This is our second stay at the Irish Cottage Inn, the first being during Covid. So we were delighted to see tea, scones, and cucumber sandwiches set out in the afternoon in the lobby when we arrived. Off the lobby is a lovely library room where one can enjoy some quiet time. There is also an small on-sight gift shop with Irish-themed items that was fun to check out. The staff was friendly and courteous. We didn't encounter any issues during our stay. Our previous room faced the back of the property and overlooked a small meadow and woods. This time, our room faced the front and was on the entry floor of the parking lot (we usually request an upper floor, but I don't recall that the Expedia reservation gave us the option to request something like that). In any case, we weren't as thrilled with the placement of the room, but it was very clean and the bed was comfortable (although the cushions on the chairs were extremely hard). The fitness room was average in terms of equipment, the pool was fine, but the hot tub looked a bit cloudy, so I didn't try it out. One of the bonuses of this property is that it includes a great restaurant--Frank O'Dowd's Pub which has live music during some evenings, and this is also where a really nice breakfast is served in the morning. The breakfast included hot offerings (with _real_ scrambled eggs, bacon, and cinnamon French toast the day we were there) as well as fresh fruit, nicely flavored and textured oatmeal, and fresh bread and scones."

"We reserved the house to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday and everything worked out better than planned. Not only was she surprised, but she is now wanting to visit and stay at this house during the summer months, preferably during the 4th of July week. Would love to take advantage of the screen porch and deck in those summer months.Jess, the owner of the property, couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating - we had three young children with us and they needed afternoon naps, so Jess allowed us to arrive earlier than planned. I assume she was thinking about us later since she offered us a late-checkout too, and this turned out to be the best offer of the weekend!The house was perfect for our family - we used 5 of the six bedrooms, and everyone had space and privacy. Every bedroom/bathroom was beautiful and fully stocked with everything needed by a family. The kitchen was also stocked with everything needed, and had some items that I wished we had at our own home!Even tough it was extremely cold in Galena that weekend, the hot tub was used constantly - I think they were nuts, but they had fun being outside I guess.Lastly, every single person thanked us for a great weekend and loved this house. We look forward to working with Jess again, and wish to thank her for her service, communication and thoughtfulness in making this weekend a memorable time for my wife and family."
