The best area to stay in Fort White is directly within Ichetucknee Springs State Park, or in its immediate vicinity, for unparalleled access to the natural springs.

Ichetucknee Springs State Park is the main draw for visitors to Fort White. It's a large natural area centred around the Ichetucknee River, fed by nine crystal-clear springs. The park is renowned for tubing, swimming, snorkelling, and paddling in its pristine waters. Access points within the park are well-maintained, offering facilities like restrooms and picnic areas.

For families, staying near the North Entrance of Ichetucknee Springs State Park is ideal. This entrance typically offers easier access to the swimming and snorkelling areas, and the shallower parts of the river are superb for children. Many families enjoy spending full days here, making proximity a real convenience.

Couples looking for a peaceful escape often prefer accommodations closer to the South Entrance of the park. This area is generally where the longer tubing journeys begin, offering a more serene experience floating down the river.

The best time to go to Fort White is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months.

These periods offer the most pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures ranging from the low 20s to high 20s Celsius. This is ideal for enjoying outdoor activities like swimming, snorkelling, and paddling in the springs without the intense heat and humidity of summer or the cooler temperatures of winter. The spring months also bring blooming wildflowers, adding to the natural beauty of the area.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will find these seasons particularly appealing. The cooler air makes for comfortable walks along the riverbanks or through the surrounding parks. It's also a great time for stargazing without the summer haze, especially when staying at accommodations with open views.

Families with young children will also appreciate the milder weather, as it allows for longer periods of outdoor play and exploration without overheating.
