Fort George Island Hotels, Jacksonville

"Upon arrival, I had to wait while I 3 staff members chit chatted. I stood there waving my keys until one finally asked if I was checking in. It's totally self service for your luggage and there weren't any carts. The attendant said I should go up to the 2nd floor check in to look for one which I did. None there so I checked in. The staff member said I should check other floors for carts as guests leave them there. After searching 3 floors I gave up and decided to carry my luggage. while gathering the load for my 3rd trip up to the 6th floor, a attendant arrived with a cart and gave it to women behind me!!! Another day I waited almost 50 minutes for my car. The sink and the shower fixtures were not very clean and confusing to operate. You might think I must be an idiot, but I've traveled the world for work for 37 years and never had issues and never was baffled with how to use plumbing fixtures. We were there 4 nights and 3 days. The room wasn't made up 2 of the 3 days and when I called down to the front desk the person I spoke with was dismissive and said they will get around to it. I told her the one day they did make up the room we didn't receive new towels and again she told me they always bring new towels when making up the room, They never came. I walked down the hall and asked a women who was attending a room and she told me that my room was not her responsibility. I got new towels from her and went back to the room. Room was never serviced AGAIN! "

"We didn't eat breakfast and no the room was not facing the beach. Room was very clean. Staff was very nice."

"Clean room. Nice bed. Great shower. Sliding door to balcony was very hard to open. Biggest issue was the A/C. If it was running it was chilly in the room. When it cut off, it got warm. Refrigerator could have been a little bigger."

"Clean and quiet "

"Hotel was in the midst of a much-needed renovation. It would have been nice to know this prior to our trip. At the restaurant, which only had a handful of customers, we ordered a drink at the bar and food to go. The bartender was extremely inattentive and actually stood with his back to us talking with a couple of guests. It took almost an hour to get a sandwich to go from a restaurant with limited customers. We reserved a river view room and this was verified at check-in. Our room faced a parking garage and a roof top. When questioning the front desk, we learned that their rooms were incorrect in the system. A refund of the difference in room charges would have been a nice gesture. This property definitely isn’t reflective of what I expect from the Marriott brand. "

"Breakfast was above average. Parking was $15. That is outrageous. Did not read all the paperwork when we reserved. If you do it at all out it in the price. I know it’s pure profit but think about the people who stay with you. Bad thinking. People remember. Also it was party time for the kids that were there. Loud slamming doors. Beating on the door to get someone’s attention. I heard them up to 2:45 AM. They should have been thrown out with no refund. I’ll probably stay there but if I stay awake because of a them. I will expect a refund. So kick them out for the people who are not there to party. "
