The best area to stay in Flores is on the island itself, particularly around the perimeter. The island of Flores is quite small, easily walkable from one end to the other in about 15 minutes. It's connected to the mainland by a short causeway. The main street, Calle 30 de Junio, circles the island and is where you'll find most of the hotels, restaurants, and shops. Many accommodations offer views of Lake Petén Itzá.Couples often enjoy staying on the island for its relaxed pace and romantic lakeside setting. You can easily stroll along the waterfront, find a lovely spot for dinner with a view, and enjoy the sunset over the lake. It's also the primary departure point for tours to Tikal, making day trips very convenient. For solo travellers, the island provides a community feel with plenty of opportunities to meet other visitors.
