The location is perfect, and the tiny hotel is perfect too, lovely spacious rooms, well-appointed and with excellent bathrooms. All the charms of an old historic building but every modern convenience as well. And the staff could not be more helpful and kind. My family stayed here in 1996, and we loved it then, but it has been very much upgraded since then. I would never think of staying anywhere else in Florence.

Fabulous stay at hotel Locanda Orchidea
Recently returned from a few days at hotel Locanda Orchidea. The room was exactly like the pictures, location is fabulous in walking distance of all the main sights. The Duomo is at the top of the street. Breakfast was good, and the host very friendly. I would definitely recommend if you are staying in Florence and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Great Stay
I booked my stay very late, and the B&B was a wonderful surprise. The cost was reasonable and everything else was perfect. The breakfast was nice and had a wide variety of items. The service was impeccable. I had a late check in and early check out, which were accommodated without issue. This includes a last minute taxi booking. I hope to return to the city soon and will plan to stay here again.

Great location..10 minute walk to Duomo. Luciano was right there to greet us..also allowing us to store our bags for the day after checkout. Wonderful breakfast. Highly recommend.

Very clean and convenient and safe location. The street is loud at night because it is a busy area but they provide ear plugs which helped. They were also flexible and accomodating in adding more nights

A very nice option to go sight seeing
We booked this months ahead as a follow up stay after our cruise. Because we would be arriving later, the owner left information for us to get into the building and to locate our room. We appreciated his extra care. This B&B is on a back street about 5 blocks from the Duomo. It is easy to get to most places within a 15 - 20 minute walk. Breakfast was served each morning from 7:45 to 10 AM. There was a nice variety but not a gourmet meal. It worked for us well. The rooms are on the second and third floors of the building. There is a small lift. Outside our bedroom was a very large Lilac bush that was in bloom. The fragrance was wonderful. There is a nice restaurant 1/2 block away that is worth trying. The pizza crust is light and very tasty.

The best thing about this place is the host Luciano. He is more then welcoming and sweet and ready to help. The location is excellent and a walking distance to every major attraction. The building the B&B is located is beautiful. The room I stayed in was huge. All I have to say about this place is good

Great location. Large rooms. As others have noted, they street can be noisy on weekends. Rowdy British bat effects the front and a loud and late disco effects the rear. Front is probably better.

Nice, but Noisy
Really liked the changes made; now has new ensuite bathrooms and nice decor; a new breakfast room as well. However, street-side rooms are extremely noisy until almost 2:30 am due to the pub down the street. This was my 3rd stay here (because it is so close to the Duomo area) but doubt will stay again due to the noise.

Che peccato. This year we have change all our windows' glasses putting the best on the market. It seems (NOT PER OUR FAULT) not enough to fight vs the noise in Florence center. We are waiting for the permission to install the double windows: as you know, this is a scheduled ancient palace (1200) so we are subjaect to Fine Arts.

The hotel was lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful. I have already recommended this hotel to some friends. The hotel is well placed with many of the main tourist attractions within a 15 minute walk and many local restaurants nearby. If we ever visit Florence again I would definitely hope they had a vacancy. Thank you for a great stay.

A fabuous home away from home in Florence
From the moment we arrived at historic Orchidea - B &B ( an 800+ year old building with the mixed charm of old world styling, modern electricity, plumbing, free wifi) we were greeted with efficiency,respect and genuine friendliness from our “Inkeeper” Luciano and his lovely wife. . The bed was quite comfortable and appeared to be a new mattress, a big priority and plus for us...who have endured less comfortable and more primitive conditions in other hotels round the world. The included daily breakfast offered a marvelous coffee machine, various intriguing and delicious fresh baked croissants, rolls, cakes and specialty pies, a pleasant array of cheeses and meats, yogurts, cereals and juices. The area is obviously chock full of things to do and see, and Luciano provided very helpful advice, referrals and maps on how to get anywhere. We didn’t rent a car for our entire stay in Florence, and thus happily avoided crazy driving through labyrinthine small streets, much more fun to see and explore on foot anyway. While there is no subway in Florence, there are busses and a rail system not too far from the hotel. Dining? You cannot walk very far without finding myriad choices for casual and delicious eateries. We have the privilege of being able to travel all over the world, and the combined accommodations and pleasant nature of Luciano made Orchidea one of our favorite places to stay in Europe. We will definitely book there again for any future trip to Florence.

The size of the room & bathroom was excellent. Breakfast was very good. The owner, Luciano, was helpful & friendly and check-in was great. The downfall was that our room opened to the pedestrian street & was very noisy at night. We had to use earplugs to get some sleep as the partying continued into the wee hours (4:30am) of the morning.

Highly recommended
It was a mini-vacation in Florence with three-night stay in the Locanda Orchidea. It is pretty small hotel located in an ancient tower more than 800 years old. We saw a graving in local museums, where this tower still stays alone, without surrounding buildings. However, room was spacious (like bedroom and living room separated), air conditioner works well and Internet is quick enough - what do you need more after a day of walking in hot Florence weather. Owner is available on site from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Coffee and water are available in the shared fridge (there is no fridge in room) for 50c round-the-clock. Breakfast is fresh and tasty enough. Location is great and close (1 km or less) to the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, grocery shops, Santa-Croce basilica, Uffizi Gallery, etc. From the breakfast room, you can see pretty inner garden with ancient statue and bath. It is usually locked but you could ask owner to open gates for a moment. What is not so positive is that the shower cabin is too tight, if you are a really big man. However, where do you see something different in Italy, for exception of luxury hotels?

I liked the location, great for walking to the sites. The room was huge. There was a lift for most of the way, just a few steps to get to the lift. Nice breakfast. Lucian, the manager, was so helpful! We got lost, because the numbering system was wacky. Red numbers for residences, and blue numbers for businesses (or vice-versa), and NOT in particular order. We wandered around before finally calling, and he told us the way to go, and came down to the street to meet us and walk us in. So nice.

The apartment was beautifully renovated in a lovely old building, room clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent could not ask for any more. Host was very welcoming and helpful. The only downside was that we were in a front room which was rather noisy at night. The host had provided earplugs which were appreciated but I would recommend requesting a back room if possible.

Thank you. The whole center of Florence is noisy, due to the particular shape of the narrow streets with tall buildings. We are looking at different solutions: this year we have changed all the glass (the best on the market) but it was not enough. If we get the permissions (this tower is scheduled to the Fine Arts), we will try with the double window. Hope to welcome you again.

B&B very good. Excellent location providing short walking distances to most places and a multitude of shops! Luciano was an excellent host and very helpful with information and helping us with any questions we asked. Lovely breakfast with a good choice of items. Room very spacious (only one thing was that with being on the front of building, it was quite noisy until late hours due to the bars below & round the corner). Very pleased with our stay overall.

Feels like home.
Orchidea is a B & B built in 1250. High ceilings and A garden in the back. We rented a 3 person room and the extra room was more than worth the nominal extra cost. Breakfast is basic continental w some fruit. Service is fine. The location is great. Every part of the city is in walkable distance. The street itself is cool with good local eating places and nice shops. Felt like we had an apartment would stay here again.

Best hotel and close to everything
If you are planning a trip to Florence, then you must considering staying here if it's available. Much better than many fancy hotel which charges twice or more. Great service, extremely pleasant and friendly staff, close to everything downtown Florence. The rooms are cozy, big and clean. They have good internet connections, cable service, and decent breakfast. Only negative is that if you're given one of the rooms which is facing the main street than it could get very loud at times due to the irish pub close to it. However, after looking up, its very common to experience loud sounds in many places in florence. Over all our experience were amazing and possibly the best in the entire Italy we've visited.

Lovely Experience
The hotel was clean and simple. It was a perfect place for me, except that breakfast hours were later than what I needed. It was definitely noisy at night since it's located on a busy street. The staff was friendly and very helpful and I would definitely stay again.

Perfect location for all sightseeing of Florence. Very clean. Good aircon and internet. Kettle to make tea in the room and complementary coffee machine. Big specious room and big modern bathroom. All comfort you need for staying in the centre of Florence.

This is just a nice clean, basic hotel with some Italian charm. Don't be scared of the the star amount, it has everything u need, including air conditioning. The mattress was very firm, the way I like it. It was close to everything u want to get to.

Fantastic location, 100 mts from the Duomo, luxurious and cozy rooms and to top it all off the staff and owner go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfy. This was by far our best B&B experience so far.

The staff of the Locanda Orchidea is definitely the best part. Luciano was gracious enough to pick me and my family up at the airport because we arrived so late. He was also super helpful throughout the trip, and very kind and accommodating. There are only 2 negatives I would lobby at this hotel: 1) Depending on which room you get, you might have a window facing the street. This appeared to be a very populous area, with many bars in the area that stayed out late. This meant drunk tourists talking, laughing, and screaming deep into the night while you're trying to sleep. The hotel does provide ear plugs, but they only go so far. 2) The wi-fi was spotty at best. It is passable for checking emails and light browsing, but thats about it. Lots of connections being dropped, and slow speeds.

Great location. Friendly staff.
It's. B and B so there isn't a lounge or restaurant in the hotel. What is feels like is more like having your own en suite and then a breakfast room to go to. It's very clean. Five mins from the Duomo. And because of that it can be noisy outside till the early morning. But it was great value for money and the perfect place to explore from.

I would recommend this hotel. The location, cleanliness, and staff were excellent. We were provided with great service, directions and information on sites and the city. The building is 800 years old so it and the area surrounding area has great character.

Excellent location. Friendly & accommodating staff
The hotel is extremely well located, only a few minutes walk from the main square and cathedral. The room is in a medieval building and brings to mind the old world of the Italian Renaissance. Dante's wife, Gemma Donati, was born there and the building was once owned by the infamous Donati family. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Great value for the price!

Very nice hotel, in a way it puts you somewhere in a past. I had a room with a view - a "toscanian view": greenery, flowers, stone balcony ... The hotel also has friendly and helpful staff, coffee and tea available ...

I was there three nights and was not able to go to sleep until 3 or 4 in the morning. Close to a plaza where people congregated , stayed talking loudly and the streets act as a megaphone. I even had head phones on

This hotel is centrally located, clean with a pleasant, friendly and helpful staff. The bed was comfortable. The room had sufficient space. There are shared bathroom facilities, but I did not find this to be a problem. No breakfast is included but there are places for breakfast located close by. I was happy that I stayed here and would stay here again. It was a relaxing and engaging place to stay.

My daughter and I stayed here and had a great 4 nights. Hotel was handy to all the sights. Very clean and safe. Would definately stay there again if visiting Florence in future. 15 min walk from train station and right around the corner from the Duomo.
