About this property

Scandi Aurora Villa: 2B2B House - Indoor Sauna & Epic Views

  • Welcome to your unique Alaskan escape! This stunning, architect-designed 3-story home offers an unforgettable Fairbanks experience, blending original 1979 Scandinavian contemporary style with modern comforts. The house features incredible panoramic windows—including a signature West-facing circular window designed to capture intense, overhead aurora storms right from the warmth of the living room. For milder displays hugging the northern horizon, simply step outside onto the expansive wrap-around deck.

The home features 2 comfortable bedrooms, each with a queen bed, and 2 full bathrooms spread across its three levels. An air mattress in the living room accommodates a fifth guest, making it ideal for couples and small families (sleeps 5).

Immerse yourself in the unique architecture, relax while spinning some vinyl on the record player, or mix a drink at the dedicated bar area. The fully equipped kitchen makes meals a breeze, and the cozy office nook provides space if you need to connect. Enjoy sweeping wilderness views from the deck, gather around the fire pit table under the stars (or the midnight sun!), and unwind in the private, authentic Finnish sauna – a true Nordic treat.

!! PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: !!

AURORA EXPECTATIONS: Aurora season runs roughly late August to mid-April; from May to early August, the midnight sun keeps the sky too bright to see aurora. The indoor round window captures INTENSE overhead storms only. Mild aurora hugs the northern horizon and is best viewed from the outside deck. Please check aurora forecast apps during your stay if indoor viewing is a must.

STAIRS: The house is a three-story structure with multiple steep, narrow staircases—please use the handrails and take extra care, especially at night. It may not be suitable for guests with mobility limitations or families with very young children. The first-floor bedroom offers stair-free access from the entry.

ACCESS & TRANSPORTATION: A personal rental car is essential for your stay. Due to our secluded location, rideshare services (Uber/Lyft) and taxis are unavailable in our area. Self check-in is available 24/7 via smart lock, and ample parking is available on the property.

WINTER DRIVING (October - April): A 4WD or AWD vehicle is MANDATORY. Our road is plowed but snowy and can be icy. Most FAI rental agencies offer a 4WD/AWD tier, no tire chains are needed, and guests consistently find the drive easy, even without snow-driving experience.

This retreat is perfect for adventurers, aurora chasers, and anyone seeking a peaceful, inspiring getaway surrounded by Alaskan beauty, just a 22-minute drive from Fairbanks International Airport (FAI). We look forward to hosting you!

We loved our stay at this beautiful home! It was the perfect setup for our family of five. Our two teenage boys stayed comfortably in the cabin, our teenage daughter had the downstairs bedroom, and my husband and I enjoyed the master suite. The property was exceptionally clean, well maintained, and truly unique. Although there are neighboring homes, the surrounding tall trees provide a sense of privacy and seclusion. We especially loved spending our mornings and evenings relaxing on the large deck, taking in the peaceful surroundings. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed to prepare our meals, and the internet connection was reliable throughout our stay. One of our favorite spaces was the upstairs loft. With its beautiful views, walls lined with books, and a large table perfect for family game nights (complete with games provided by the hosts), it quickly became our favorite part of the house. The location was ideal for exploring the Fairbanks area. Most of the activities we enjoyed—including Riverboat Discovery, Gold Daughters gold panning, and Running Reindeer Ranch—were only about 20 minutes away. Walmart and downtown Fairbanks were also very close. Our Arctic Fat Truck Tour was about a 55-minute drive, but the scenic journey made it well worth the trip.If you're planning to visit Denali National Park, it's approximately 1½ hours away. We chose to spend a couple of nights closer to the park, which worked well for us.Highly recommend this place!
