About this property
Peaceful Hillside Refuge to Enjoy Aurora
Private and peaceful, this cozy cabin is located in boreal forest at the end of a private road close to Fairbanks. You will enjoy exclusive use of this retreat during your stay. The hooting of a great horned owl on the mountain behind the house is only rarely disturbed by the distant moan of the locomotive winding through the valley below. The property that this cabin and the main house sits on feels remote even though it is less than 15 minutes from shopping and Fairbanks International Airport.

I like this lodge very much! Just 10-15 minutes drive from the hotel and 20-30 minutes drive to the murphy dome where I saw the perfect aurora. The lodge is like a refuge from the outside world, queit and cozy, everything inside is clean and easy to use. If I want to visit Alaska again, this lodge would be one of the most important reason.

We had a simply fantastic time. It's a beautiful site. The owners were extremely nice inviting and cordial.!!! excellent place to view the northern lights!!!
Dan was so easy to work with; loved the little house, perfect for a 1 or 2-night stay (we only could work in a 1-overnighter); clean, easy to access, enjoyed our stay very much; highly recommend!
Dan and Clarity were amazing hosts and easy to communicate with! The cabin was perfect us as it was far enough outside of town to be nice and peaceful, but close enough for all of our outings, and it was also close to Murphy Dome which was an amazing spot for viewing the aurora on cloudless nights!

This cabin was truly the most amazing, comfy, cozy, and magical place to spend our days in Fairbanks. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely immersed in the Alaskan vibe—the decor is beautiful and thoughtful, and the cabin is equipped with absolutely everything you could need.
We stayed during extreme cold, with temperatures reaching -45°F (-40°C), and to our amazement, the cabin still had running hot water the entire time. Being able to come back from our activities and take a hot shower was everything—it made our trip so much more comfortable and enjoyable.
The location is perfect. It’s far enough from downtown Fairbanks to feel surrounded by peaceful nature and trees, yet close enough to everything you need. Running Reindeer Ranch is only 5 minutes away, and it’s just minutes from Aurora Camp and Murphy Dome—honestly, this is exactly where you want to be for aurora watching.
On top of all that, the owners are incredible. They live just a couple of minutes away, so in case of any emergency they’re right there, and they are extremely responsive and helpful.
We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Highly, highly recommend!
We celebrated our 30th anniversary with a trip to Alaska. This cabin was the perfect remote location we were looking for! Hosts were quick to respond to questions and go above and beyond to make guests feel relaxed and comfortable.
Very cute cottage with all the amenities one needs fresh eggs and food items stocked in the kitchen. Owner was very friendly . One of my best experiences with VRBO. Highly recommend this place. So much to see in the surrounding area.
This has been a perfect place to stay. An Alaskan experience near the top of a mountain surrounded by trees and a beautiful sky. Great cozy cabin with everything we would need. The hosts were fantastic. Freshly laid eggs for breakfast from the owners little poultry farm next door. We hope to come back sometime!
We were just in Fairbanks for the night and after seeing the cabin wish we could have stayed longer. Nice, very quiet area just far enough away from town but just a few minutes drive to the local General Store for supplies. Our hosts provided everything that we could have needed next time we are back in the area we will be calling them first!
We wanted to be out of the city. This little cabin was perfect! It’s also a bed and breakfast so the cabin is stocked with all kinds of food including snacks and soups. The quail eggs were the best! The decor as in furs and antlers and paintings are all from local artists and hunters and are available for purchase. Everything was beautiful comfy and warm.
Can’t say enough good things about this little place. Communication was effortless, and the place was exactly like the photos. Charming, convenient and close to everything. Absolutely spotless. We just regret we weren’t able to stay longer. We were just in town for the evening, but we did get to see a stunning display of the aurora borealis. Just up the hill from the cabin. Definitely would love to come and stay here again! Thanks guys!
Yes, that’s what you will hear…nothing and it’s great. Very tidy cabin and great breakfast fixings for you to create your own breakfast. Right down the road and conveniently located near Running Reindeer Ranch. Thank you Clarity &Dan for your hospitality.
We flew in late to Fairbanks International arriving at 2am from Seattle. Due to our arrival time, the car rental companies were all closed, but a short 20 min cab ride to our warm cabin was amazing after traveling almost 24 hours. We were exhausted and ready to get some much needed rest.
We slept a few hours and then were able to make a great breakfast and hot coffee from the fresh ingredients provided by Dan and Clarity. The cabin has many items available to help with the costs of staying in a VRBO.
During our stay we visited Castner Ice Cave, Denali, Chena Hot Springs, drove the Dalton to the Arctic Circle and we day the Aurora! We unfortunately had a lot of cloudy weather near the cabin during our stay so we didn't get to see it from there, but our view was gorgeous nevertheless! It snowed several days, too. We were warm and cozy and appreciated the heated mattress pad!
I didn't get to personally meet either of our hosts, but my husband did and he said they were very gracious and kind. All of my communication with them from before booking until we checked out has been excellent! Zero complaints! I would absolutely come back to this cabin again without hesitation.
We stayed 9 nights total and there was nothing that we needed other than laundry facilities. We went to town and in an hour had our laundry done at Fairbanks Laundry. This cabin has its water brought in by tanker, which I was aware of, many cabins around the area are dry cabins.
