The position is excellent with nice terrace and gardens, with a view of the beach. The room was in the old original hotel on the top floor at the rear and was very hot even with the sash window open, we requested a fan but it got overlooked.

Love the building and grounds. Afraid mattress in room 218 needs renewing, springs are at the surface in some places so not much sleep.

Probably was a lovely property in its hey day but sadly not now. Very dated furniture in room. Dark and dingy decor. Bed uncomfortable. Only nice thing was the sea view. Outdoor chairs on balcony need replacing as worn out so all in all it’s in need of a total refurbishment. Not worth the money. Wouldn’t stay again

Window paintwork in need of attention. One light not working over bed. Carpet was wrinkled in a few places. Although parking was easy having to pay daily on top of hotel rate seemed excessive

The location of the Hotel offering direct access through the extensive grounds to the seafront and miles of level promenade from the harbour to Orcombe Point, together with its proximity to the town’s shopping centre, makes this an awesome place to stay. Exmouth has so much to offer to all age groups, in particular young families and older generations.

The property has a great location but is generally tired in the bedrooms, although the bathroom of my room had certainly been refurbished. The breakfast room is quite delightful and the staff are lovely. The location is great to walk into the town centre and access to the promenade. The building has quite a unique layout and anything above ground level may involve confusing combinations of lift and stairs. The price point is good for the experience and I’d use it again.

Excellent location. Overlooks the sea but only a few minutes walk from the centre of town. Train station also just a 10 min walk away too. Room very cosy with exceptionally comfortable bed.

A nice hotel in a good location close to the beach & town, our room was spacious & clean with basic facilities. A nice large bar area with outside seating. We only had breakfast at the hotel but the restaurant area was very nice with a big variety of breakfast choices. Staff were all very polite , friendly & helpful , overall a very pleasant stay at this hotel.

Friendly, polite staff. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a sea view room on arrival. Lift not available to our floor so a flight of stairs was necessary, not ideal if you have mobility issues. Good location opposite sea front and a short walk to shops.

A quick overnight stay in February. Friendly and efficient reception. Clean, warm room. Didn't eat here so cannot comment on that but dining room looked good. Good value for money. Close to Beach and town.

Good hotel for the price you pay
Very nice hotel. Great for the price you pay. Could do with a little TLC, but then would probably be twice the price. Would have been nice to have a few dog water bowls and dog Pooh bin as it is supposed to be dog friendly, but would definitely go back again. Nice sea views and plenty of places to eat.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel, and the fact it is dog friendly is just brilliant. All the staff were helpful and the location is fantastic as you overlook the esplanade. We will definitely be back! Thank you.

Elegant seafront stay
The location is excellent, with really good parking facilities. Rooms are spacious and the interior is elegant. Reception staff have been very helpful and the cleaning staff friendly and professional.

Love the Imperial
We have stayed at the Imperial a few times and always love it. The staff are lovely, the breakfast is awesome and the location is perfect. Some of the rooms could do with a spruce up, our balcony door didn’t seal very well for example, but it doesn’t detract from the overall experience. We love it and we will be back again soon !

Victorian hotel which has been updated somewhat with modern features. If you’re expecting 5 star this ain’t for you. 3 star at best but fine for short stays. Can’t comment on food cos i didn’t have any. Comparable to premier inn / travel lodge.

Friendly and helpful staff. Room was great - bed comfy, room warm, loads of hot water, shower fast, towels were big enough. Would have liked individual toiletries but that’s my only comment. Really enjoyed staying here.

Everything was clean but no hairdryer and the fan in the bathroom didn’t turn of for at least an hour after you turned of the light and whilst trying to sleep was quite annoying- reception staff very friendly and the Christmas decorations were brillant,

A hôtel of two reviews. It was friendly, efficiently run, had a good bar, was cosy and had spacious rooms. On the negative side it was threadbare and needs a lot of investment to bring it up to scratch. The buffet breakfast was adequate but it would have been so much better with hot food cooked to order. Scrambled eggs going cold are not appealing.

Over all a lovely hotel, though the outside appearance is somewhat tired. Inside is very comfortable & the staff are friendly & very helpful. We had a fabulous massive room with large bay window, over looking the sea. Bed very comfortable, though the main light was extremely dim. Could do with a better shade. Also a few stains on the carpet. Only a few minutes walk to the town center & 5 minutes walk to the harbour & sea & river cruises. Would we stay here again? Yes definitely.
