Evergreen Hotels, Memphis

"The hotel was nothing like the pictures. It was dirty and there was weed smell everywhere . From the moment you arrive, down the halls, I had to out a rolled up towel by my door to keep the odor out. The carpet in our room looked like it hadn’t been vacuumed. The breakfast was minimal and dirty (due to kids being there without parents). Some of the staff was nice and others acted annoyed to be there. It was a noisy location due to the restaurant next door that seemed to function as a club as well. Would never stay here again. "

"We stayed at 4 different hotels on our journey along the way, and this by far was the worst one. The staff acted as if you are invisible. Not the front desk - the other staff. Trying to walk with a luggage cart? They don't move/mind/care/walk in front of you/cut you off/etc. For some reason they set the floor blower right in the middle of the walkway (so had to go a whole different route with luggage cart). No hellos, nods, nothing when passing by them. It was so strange and felt so unwelcoming. Then, I'm still baffled as to why they decided to put the towels INSIDE the shower (see pic). And I'm sorry, but using zip ties for shower hooks is ghetto for as much as this room cost. "

"Lots of character and Southern hospitality offered at this hotel. Walking distance to great restaurants, local shops and fun attractions. "

"Their breakfast is decently good they do have a variety. They have a pancake machine. They have better yogurt at this hotel. It’s super clean fresh. The only thing is is that there was a white girl at check-in time first thing in the morning and she denied me of checking in, stated that the hotel was completely packed even though their parking lot did not look like it. She wouldn’t allow me to check in early and we were there for basketball tournament games. I also requested when I first booked the hotel months ago that I needed an early check-in because we normally play earlier in the day. So I arrived at the hotel at 10 AM and she made me wait until literally check-in time at 3 PM. So if you plan on arriving early and trying to get settled is not about to happen here so be careful and do not schedule anything if you can’t check in early because it definitely messed our trip up. Other than that, it was great when I came back to actually check in there was a Black Girl there and she was extremely nice quick and effective so I do appreciate person number two being nice because the first lady was rude."

"Breakfast buffet was $24.95 and I ate my fill, Eggs were good, Turkey Sausage was well done, and with Maple syrup it was delicious. Staff was welcoming and this "older" hotel was once a crown jewel, that has had a refresh! Our room had new carpet, updated fixtures and the bed was great. Parking was limited, but we managed to get a spot with Vallet having our best interest at heart. Nice staff, nicely updated amenities and I would stay again, no questions asked. I would rate my stay as a Solid 8.59%"
