This place is so cozy and sweet. It doesn’t look very big from the outside but it’s super spacious inside. You can’t hear anything between rooms which is great. The bathroom is fabulous with a large bathtub, the kitchen has everything you need and more, and the space in general is super clean and inviting. There’s a washer dryer too, so that was extremely helpful. The area is surprisingly quiet even though it’s by a school. I really enjoyed staying here and definitely would again.
Cute older home that is clean and comfortable. Host was great to communicate with and very helpful. Beds are comfortable. Plenty of towels, washer and dryer, extra blankets. Neighborhood was quiet. Even on the 4th of July, fireworks ended as we were going to bed. Other nights, no noise of neighbors or sirens. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 teens who were in town to explore and hike. This was a good location to use as home base and explore from here. Enjoyed downtown Eureka for a couple of dinners, a festival, and shops.
My grandmother & our three dogs had a great stay at this sweet little vintage home with a private fully fenced yard, and deck. The laundry room/back entry hall is huge & connected to the kitchen, which is larger than it appears in the photos. Plenty of room for our dogs to stretch out. Our dogs weigh 65lb, 55lb, and 8lb, respectively. The yard was fully secure and well kept, so it was easy to clean up after the dogs. There is plenty of street parking on a nice wide street, and there is room for everyone to have privacy inside the house & yard. The linens & furnishings are comfortable as well as functional. It was remarkably quiet at night, almost rural feeling, even though it's in the city. Very nice attentive hosts. We will definitely stay here again.

We were a bit disappointed after all the glowing reviews we read. I'd like to mention, though, that everything was clean and worked. We had a snafu with communication at the outset which flavored our stay a bit but that was not the owner's fault. Apparently our text for help with the heat and a blocked drain never reached them and I didn't re-text until the following day.The home and the neighborhood are a bit old and tired. Some aspects of the house have been updated but it definitely shows its age. Pictures with listing are fairly accurate. I didn't think it was clear in the listing that we would not have access to both bathrooms because there were only the two of us. (The rental fee is apparently charged according to the number in your party, which is unusual for VRBO.)Anyway, that said, there were loads of fluffy white towels (though no towel rods), plenty of hot water once it got going, nice newer washer and dryer, and just about any gadget you could possibly want in the kitchen. The heat worked well once I figured out where the correct thermostat was and how to change the settings. All said, it was a decent place to use as a base for exploring the Redwoods.
The directions sent to me by VRBO were not accurate but the host replied quickly by text to clarify. The house was super clean and very well equipped and a very pleasant helpful host. I would stay there again
We loved our stay at this property. The neighborhood is nice, safe, very quiet with ample parking along the street. The house was just as described: roomy, clean, well-appointed, with comfortable furniture and beds. Showers were hot, wifi worked great! Margo was a wonderful host, checking on to make sure we got in safely and had no issues. We will definitely consider staying here again on our next trip to Humboldt county.
We loved our stay at this vacation rental! It was comfortable, quirky in the best way, clean, and close to everything we needed. The home was well-stocked with supplies and had everything we could possibly need—such a thoughtful touch that made our stay even easier. We especially loved being near Sequoia Park Zoo and the beautiful redwood-filled park next to it. There was even a farmers market just a block away, plus several great restaurants within walking distance. The host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and treated us like locals. We’d absolutely stay here again!
This house was perfect for my friend and I. We like a lot of personal space and comfort. The location is great! Centrally located from Old Town, the zoo and easy to get to Hwy 101. We had a little trouble getting the TV on at first and then turning it off again. Maybe the remote needs new batteries? If not, some instructions would be good. I would definitely stay here again.
Loved this house! Perfect amount of space for our 4-person family with 2 teens. Really clean, well-stocked kitchen, comfy rooms, board games, and TVs. Centrally located, close to Redwoods, short drive to downtown Eureka & waterfront. Very pleasant!
We came to stay, run and enjoy the Eureka/Humboldt Bay area. Host was prompt with answers, communicating about arrival time, etc.
Everything we needed was there and the house is within 2 miles of the start/finish of the race.
We will stay again.
Thank you!

Nice house.
It was a nice clean house. Was not impressed w a sign in the window w political opinions on it. Also had a bit of a issue w the owner being around the property while we were renting it.
I was traveling to Humboldt County with my 19 year old daughter to see the Humboldt State campus. This house was spacious and very clean. Brand new carpets and a very well stocked kitchen in a quiet residential neighborhood. My daughter loved the privacy of the cute upstairs room...perfect for a teen or young adult. Margo and her daughter Holly were super responsive to our requests.

The property itself is very nice. The listing, however, deserves 1 star - it is false advertising. It says that EV charging is available on site. I booked the property on that basis, but I discovered too late that it was not true. The owner's daughter said (via text) that there is no electrical power outlet outside and that EV charging is not an option. She even argued with me about whether the listing said that there was EV charging. When I texted her a screenshot of the listing, she said "This is truly horrible," and that the listing is "not correct in a few ways."
As of today (7/20/25), the listing STILL gives this as an available amenity.
There is no excuse for the owner of the property leaving this incorrect listing up.
Read the details prior to booking, as stated by the owner
Margo’s home is lovely and well located. I would advise that you thoroughly read through the details before booking.
Pets are welcome, but only in the kitchen and hallway to the backyard, you’ll have to enter through the backyard entrance. Most of the house is carpeted where animals are to stay off of.
If you have anymore than two people in your party there is an additional daily fee per person of $40.
Margo states that her neighbors keep a close eye on the house, which I think brings a great deal of comfort to the owner but the only room in the house that doesn’t have blinds happens to directly face the neighbors windows. We definitely felt like we were being watched the whole time and often found the neighbor peering at us through her windows into ours.
Our stay was overall very nice, just make sure to pay attention to the details.
This property is located in a quiet neighborhood and was centrally located for easy access onto freeway. Very clean and kitchen well stocked, plenty of games to play. My only negative was the backyard, it was overgrown and my small dog's kept getting caught up in the blackberry vines that are beginning to take over a corner.
Other than that it was a great location.
Side note, I apologize for taking your ice packs that were in the freezer...miscommunication in our group! Please let me know how to get back to you.
Thank You for a relaxing getaway
