With a host of exciting rides and entertainment to suit all tastes, this family-friendly amusement park ticks all the boxes.

Since its establishment in 1890, Elitch Gardens has been many things a zoological park, a botanic garden and home to the famous Trocadero Ballroom, where Denverites danced the night away to the likes of Benny Goodman and Guy Lombardo. Today Elitch Gardens is a magical theme and water park and is still one of the most popular attractions in Denver. To get the most out of your day, start off by tackling your favourite rides in the amusement park. Once you have had your fill of the land-based thrills and spills, head to the adjacent water park where more adventure and excitement awaits. Most thrill seekers will make a beeline for the Mind Eraser. This terrifying ride suspends riders upside down before hurtling through rollovers and double-corkscrew spins at over 80 kilometres an hour. Next, test your mettle on the Sling Shot. As the name suggests, brave souls are flung into the sky at a heart-stopping 120-kilometres an hour before swooping back down to earth. For an adrenalin rush that is out of this world, strap yourself into the Tower of Doom. As you make the ascent to the top, drink in panoramic views of the mountains and the city before plunging 67 metres to the ground in a hair-raising free fall. For something the whole family can enjoy, hop into the Blazin Buckaroo roller coaster. Full of exciting twists and turns this ride will delight youngsters and adults alike and won’t have you bringing up your dinner. Other great options are the more traditional rides like the 83-year-old Carrousel, the Big Wheel and the Tilt-A-Whirl. In Kiddieland, little ones can hitch a ride on the Elitch Express mini train, squeal in delight on the spinning Tea Cups and sail their own boat on Ding Dong Dock.Bob along Castaway Creek and the Lazy River before hitting the slides, aqua rides and wave pools. Explore the five-storey tree house in Hooks Lagoon, whizz down the high-speed Acapulco Cliff Dive or speed through aqua-tube slides on Cannonball Falls.Bursting with thrill rides, family rides, children’s rides, water rides as well live entertainment shows, this is a fantastic place for families, groups, couples and anyone who is young at heart and wants to have fun.
