When is the best time to go to El Pilar?

The best time to go to El Pilar, Basque Country, Spain, is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months. During these periods, the weather is pleasantly mild, with fewer crowds than the peak summer months. This makes it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the region, from coastal walks to vineyard tours, without the intense heat or the bustle of high season. For those who enjoy outdoor activities like hiking or cycling, spring offers lush green landscapes and comfortable temperatures. Autumn brings stunning foliage, especially in the inland areas, and is also the harvest season for grapes, making it a great time for wine enthusiasts. While July and August offer warmer weather for beach activities, they also see a significant increase in visitors and higher prices.

Hotel Convento Miranda

8/10 Good

"Nice room with ample space. Easy parking and secure shed for bikes. Convenient stopover for Santander. David was friendly and helpful. Recommended."

Hotel Silken Ciudad de Vitoria

10/10 Excellent

"Close to the cathedral and the Arch of Santa Maria. Also many bars within these areas for eating out or inside with pintxos dishes. Cathedral lit up at night so very good to sit outside with a beer and some pintxos. The hotel rooms are well equipped. The only problem is trying to check in. There is an area with is narrow outside the reception, but when my husband parked to check in, I stayed in the car and it appears to be a thoroughfare for other vehicles, so one fella tried to push through and was gesticulating for me to move, which I couldn't. Then another woman came and got out the car and spoke loudly in Spanish for me to move. I said I cannot understand, so she signalled for me to phone for my husband and move. Is this not an area for to check in, not sure?. I was annoyed with the problems I had while waiting to be checked in so they should have a particular area to park."
