Admiral Farragut Inn

6/10 Okay

"Great location and nice old colonial style home, however upkeep of the Inn needs some work. A lot of pealing paint and loose floor boards. The Inn Keepers office looks like a trash pile through the windows. There was confusion with our check-in, provided wrong room. Thanks to the staff who noticed the error early. Rooms are basic, be sure to get a king bed room. The others, such as top floor, are extremely small. Fireplace was not operable in our room. TVs are haphazardly mounted, wires everywhere, screens on angles. Closet was doubling as a storage space in our room, with 4 endow air conditioning units pulled up. Again, great location to the warf area, walking distance to everything downtown. Off street parking was nice, particularly as you head into the busy summer months."

"Stayed this past weekend and the updates and remodel to the hotel were beautiful! They did a wonderful job with the decor and overall vibe of the hotel. Rooms/ bathrooms are small, but the newness of all the furniture and finishings were a nice touch. We stayed on floor 2 and the water/ice station on floor 3 was not open/finished yet. There were caution construction signs blocking its use. Our AC also was not blowing cold air and our neighbors mentioned the same. They were advised to crack their window open. We did the same as it luckily was not a super hot night. House keeping was very kind and we were able to check in a little early which is always a plus!"

"I had a travel day from hell and when I called (almost in tears) to tell them my check-in would be in the middle of the night not only did they accommodate but were extremely nice and reassuring, and then they upgraded me. He then called the next day to check in on me and ask about my sleep. THESE PEOPLE ARE THE KOBES OF HOSPITALITY. They recommended where to go and how to get there and as a solo traveler I felt extremely taken care of and not just a room number. The house is a little creaky in the best way. You feel like you were transported back in time. Great shower and I felt the ease of being able to come and go as I pleased. Such a bargain to be right in the middle of things and a quick walk to shops, the wharf, restaurants and the mansions. The check-in and out process was so easy. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"

"Breakfast was a pleasure every single day. Afternoon tea was a delight and a welcome respite from walking & sight-seeing. We absolutely loved sitting by the fireplace in our room. The bathroom was small, but that's what one should expect from a classic old building. The fact that they maintain it so well is amazing, and a real credit to the innkeeper(s)."
