"First impressions were not great and it was downhill from there. No greeting, were made to feel we were interrupting the receptionist and we were told that because there were two bus groups staying the night that it might be a problem having breakfast when we wanted in the morning. While our room was clean, it was akin to a motel room, almost identical to the actual motel room we stayed elsewhere the next night. The property feels tired, long overdue for a facelift. Breakfast was a waste of time. When we arrived two staff members were too busy having some kind of heated discussion to acknowledge us, so we stood there awkwardly until they were finished. The young girl then waved us to an area vaguely, clearly wishing she was elsewhere. We did too once we saw the ‘food’ on offer. Wet scrambled eggs are never appetising, the sausages somehow tasted floury and a number of items needed replenishing. Tables weren’t being cleaned leaving new guests no clean or set tables to choose from. Bus tour group guests were leaving their dirty plates on the buffet and filling their water bottles with juice from the dispensers. The staff we did encounter were morose and some seemed on the verge of tears. My husband didn’t even have his morning coffee once he saw the state of the long overdue for a clean out sugar bowl."

"The Inn is easy to find with ample parking. My concerns centred on strong, damp like smelly in my room. Curtains that couldn't be closed properly. With the main door not being locked at night, security was very poor. I was woken by a disturbance outside my door during the night it was very unsettling. All these issues might have been easier to raise with staff had they been approachable. It took the duration of the trip for the person at reception to smile and be friendly. Would definitely not use again. "

"I cannot rave enough about my stay at the Castle! The staff were friendly and accommodating. The food, both dinner and breakfast were superb ( the sea bass at dinner was delicious and the black pudding was to die for!) The room was immaculate and beautiful (we stayed in the Oak Suite). If you can stay there for sure!"

"The hotel is very dated but clean and served our needs for a stopover during a motorcycle tour with plenty of parking for the bikes. Breakfast was plentiful and the haggis was amazing. Not much to do in Strathpeffer but we found a lovely little cafe a few mins walk away "

"We were very impressed with the Conon. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room was great and all the food we had was good. Because we had a dog and we like her to accompany us to meals we were asked to us the bar. No problem with this. The dining room looked good. "

"I pre-booked the hotel weeks before I traveled. The website said that the retreat house had restaurants, lounge, and bar amenities that I thought would be useful for my stay. The restaurant was not opened when we arrived. The bar//lounge had no staff. We asked the only employee we ever saw when the restaurant would be open and she said it’s only open for breakfast. We came downstairs in the morning at 8:30. The sign on the dining room said that breakfast was served at eight to ten. No one to be found anywhere a ghost town. Our room was on the third floor and there was absolutely no water pressure in the shower. There was no television and the Wi-Fi was intermittent. The windows weren’t insulated and it was cold, even though it had been a sunny day. My traveling companion turned the heater on, but she never did get warm. The listing on the website looks like a magnificent place and we were really looking forward to a wonderful comfortable stay but we never had any contact with service personnel or employees that made us feel welcome no greetings no goodbye very very odd."

"The cottage was amazing, clean, so spacious and really well equipped. The cottage is private and in lovely grounds, we sat in the conservatory watched deer and a fox roaming, it was so relaxing. Would definitely return. "
