"This is a very posh, small (24 room) 5* hotel, located right in the center of the small town of Banska Stiavnica. "Let's start with the positives. The reception desk and café staff, were incredibly helpful and kind. The room was clean. The dining space was updated and clean and the staff did their best. The grounds were well kept. The negative were the other staff. No one spoke English and did not attempt to communicate in any other language, verbal or non-verbal. Listing a property on Expedia should include mention that English is not widely spoken when appropriate. Except for the cave steam bath, there...

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Devičie?
Devičie is a charming, albeit small, village, and the best area to stay would be in the central part of the village, near the historic Church of Saint Nicholas.

This central area offers a peaceful and traditional Slovakian village experience. You'll find yourself surrounded by rolling hills and traditional homes, with the village square often hosting local events. The Church of Saint Nicholas, a significant local landmark, is easily accessible, offering a glimpse into the region's history.

For couples seeking a tranquil escape, this central location provides a wonderful base for exploring the surrounding nature, including gentle walks through the countryside. It's a great spot for those who appreciate quiet evenings and a slower pace of life.

Families might also find the central village area appealing due to its quiet setting and opportunities for outdoor activities.
When is the best time to go to Devičie?
The best time to go to Devičie is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and pleasant, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the natural beauty of the region.

During this period, the average daily temperatures range from 20°C to 25°C, with plenty of sunshine. This makes it great for hiking and cycling in the surrounding Štiavnica Mountains, or enjoying the local thermal baths. The longer daylight hours also mean more time to explore the historic sites in nearby Banská Bystrica.

Families will find summer particularly appealing, as many local attractions and open-air events are in full swing. Children can enjoy the various walking trails suitable for all ages, and the warmer water at local swimming areas or natural lakes provides a refreshing break. Many accommodations also offer family-friendly activities during this peak season.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the warm evenings, great for al fresco dining or a leisurely stroll through the quaint villages. The natural scenery is at its most lush, providing a beautiful backdrop for photography or simply relaxing together.
