I get no joy in writing this review. I know it’s hard to maintain properties. Anyway, I have been renting vacation homes for many years and this is the only negative experience I have ever had. We arrived at this property and everything looked good. We unpacked and rested. Unfortunately as the day turned to night, everything changed. A large amount of disgusting bugs began appearing in every room of the house. We have pictures of them all– on the kitchen counter, in the shower, on furniture, in the bedding, etc.
The property manager/owner identified them as “earwigs” and characterized them as non-harmful insects and indicated it was normal to have them in the home due to the weather. The manager did offer to send someone over with some pesticide, however, at this point in the evening the number of bugs in the house was starting to resemble a horror movie. We had zero confidence pesticides would alleviate the problem in a short amount of time.
Anyway, I know the difference between seasonal bugs getting into a home– the occasional spider, ants, maybe even a cricket– totally normal. This wasn’t that. This was a full on infestation that required professional treatment. The owner indicated they do have routine professional pest treatments at the property, but man, whatever they are doing is obviously ineffective.
Anyway, we left around midnight and found a hotel. I recommend future travelers choose another property.
