Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful part of the world. We spent Christmas here and it was just perfect. Super close to all the great sights in the national park, with a bus stop just across the road and some excellent walks starting from the lodge itself. The staff were very thoughtful – there was a lovely Christmas bauble in our room when we arrived. The room was modern, comfortable and immaculate, and we spotted lots of wildlife from the balcony. We travelled to Queenstown to ride the West Coast Wilderness Railway and stayed two nights at the Comfort Inn Gold Rush Motel. It is very difficult to choose a motel when you are travelling. We booked the room before we left home not knowing what we were going to find. It was a pleasant surprise to open the door and find such a lovely room.

Which area of Cradle Mountain is best to stay in for pet-friendly hotels?
The best area to stay in Cradle Mountain for pet-friendly hotels is near the Cradle Mountain National Park entrance.
This area offers convenient access to the park's walking trails and attractions, with many establishments located along the main road leading into the park, such as Cradle Mountain Road. It's a practical base for exploring the region.
Couples travelling with pets will find several lodges and cabins here that welcome animals. These accommodations often provide spacious settings and direct access to outdoor areas, making it easy to take your dog for a walk.
What pet-friendly activities should we do in Cradle Mountain?
While Cradle Mountain itself is a National Park with strict rules about pets to protect its wildlife, there are still some lovely pet-friendly activities you can enjoy in the surrounding areas.
For a scenic stroll with your dog, consider the short loop walk around Dove Lake, located just outside the National Park boundary. This well-maintained track offers stunning views of Cradle Mountain reflected in the lake and is a great way to experience the area's natural beauty together. It's a gentle walk suitable for all fitness levels.
If you're looking for a more relaxed outing, the Cradle Mountain Hotel and some other accommodations in the area have designated pet-friendly rooms and even specific walking trails on their private property where dogs are welcome on a lead. This allows you to explore the immediate surroundings of your accommodation with your furry friend.
For those who enjoy a good meal with their pet by their side, some cafes and restaurants in the nearby villages of Cradle Mountain and Sheffield offer outdoor seating where well-behaved dogs are permitted.
