  • Buttle Lake is beautifully situated in the wilderness of Strathcona Provincial Park in the centre of Vancouver Island. When the water is low tree stumps of some areas of deforestation are uncovered. Whilst it is remote it is served by good roads which are required for logging transport. These roads are, mercifully, however very quiet. The campground is basic, pumped water & pit toilets, which in reality take it one stage from wild camping but that is as it should be in a remote area of natural beauty. Do not bother with your mobile phone here. Not a cat in hell's chance of a signal!! Great! #GreatOutdoors

Great little room right on the slopes

We had a great stay, really enjoyed the hot tub (make sure you book your spot) to help relax after a day on the slopes. Check in and out was a breeze.

It's a great spot for a quiet retreat in the summer. Easy access to miles of nearby trails. Excellent location for winter skiers as well. Very quiet in the summer and the weather was exceptional. Ski Getaway

The place was just as the pictures showed. A 5 minute walk to the main building where we ate Lunch and Dinner. We enjoyed some time in the hot tub, which was located on the same floor. Host responded quickly to any of our questions.

Sweet spot

We stayed at one of the only true ski in and out accommodation on the mountain It is located right on the ski run for easy stopping and leaving the accommodation. It is a small room with just a bed and a small table. Everything you need for skiing and sleeping and all the basic are there. It also has a shared hot tub which is nice to relax after a day of sking .
