"Large parking lot so if you have a trailer or large Uhaul with trailer it's a great place. I saw a couple semi's too. Room clean, next to gas stations, one exit from restaurants. I didn't eat the hotel breakfast but went 1 exit east to Cracker Barrel. I would stay here again for a day or a week. Overall great stay"

Lake Natoma Inn

10/10 Excellent

"Very clean. Nice fluffy towels. Bathroom light switches were a bit wonky, being far from the bathroom door on the outside. Make sure that there isn’t a wedding reception right outside your window if you are an early to bed type."

Auburn House Hotel

8/10 Good

"It was right in the freeway, so the road noise was a little loud. Also, there was a significant amount of dust and debris in one corner, and if I had been traveling with children I would have asked that it be cleaned or I have another room. But since I wasn’t staying in the room much, I just ignored it. The breakfast was ok, but the pancake machine ran out of batter around 9am and there was no active attendant on duty to change it, so the second day I only got one pancake."

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Cool?

The best time to visit Cool is during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months, when the weather is most pleasant for outdoor activities.Spring offers mild temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the area. Wildflowers are in bloom, and the rivers are flowing well, which is great for rafting or kayaking on the American River. This season is particularly good for couples looking for scenic hikes and refreshing outdoor adventures without the intense summer heat.Autumn also provides comfortable temperatures, generally between 18°C and 28°C, with less chance of rain than spring. The changing colours of the leaves add a beautiful backdrop to the landscape. This period is excellent for those who enjoy cycling, horseback riding, or simply relaxing in the cooler air. Families might find this a good time to visit, as the less extreme weather is comfortable for children to enjoy outdoor activities like gold panning or exploring local trails. While summer (July to August) can be very hot, often exceeding 35°C, it's still popular for water-based activities.
