STAR GAZER RETREAT
The house has ample acreage and offers privacy, views, and mountain surroundings. It is about 10 miles north of Woodland Park and 30 miles from Colorado Springs, but the map doesn't show the exact location.
Wake up in the morning and admire the sun rising over the mountains. Enjoy your morning coffee or tea while observing deer walking about the property. Take a short stroll along the old road to the red rock formations on the North end of the land. This is a perfect photo moment.
Walk to the big bald rock to see the old mine. Climb some hills (please avoid boulders) to enjoy a magnificent view and cell phone reception on the top of the hill. But don't worry—the house has WiFi cell phone reception.
Fish in the private creek; no license is required. You may catch a rainbow or brown trout. If you don't get fish here, try Platte River or Manitou Lake, less than 10 miles away. You will need a license. If fishing is not your thing, try whitewater rafting on the Platte River. The river is shallow and slow in most places. You will see a lot of local people enjoying this activity.
Or you may want to pan for gold and come home rich! The creek is in the old settlement where prospectors panned for gold during the Colorado Gold Rush.
If you don't get gold, collect some berries and herbs. Make herbal tea with fresh yarrow, wild raspberry leaves or berries, and young pine needles. It tastes delicious.
If you don't get fish or berries, get some steaks in Woodland Park, a few miles away.
Make your BBQ on the gas grill and enjoy the view of Pikes Peak.
Don't forget to check out the starry sky at night: there are so many bright and close stars. Remember, you are in the mountains, and all the stars are 1.5 miles closer!
If you get bored on the property, venture to Woodland Park to enjoy local cold brews at Bier Werks or try authentic local restaurants.
There are several supermarkets in Woodland Park, a Walmart, fast food joints, and many attractions. Check out Dinosaur Museum, Florissant Fossil Beds, and Wild Wolf Preserve Center. If you would like to immerse yourself in Colorado mining and railroad history, visit Cripple Creek and Victor. They also have casinos. You may have luck!
Please Notice: the map doesn't show the exact location. The property is in Woodland Park, about 10 miles North of it.
