The building is very unique, it seems like there is a library attached to the side. My room was excellent and had a good air conditioning system, this was essential as I visited during a heat wave. The staff was friendly; what truly stood out was the breakfast in the morning. Excellent value for money, I would recommend this hotel as good value for the price

It is a religious / church linked and owned property, so not your average hotel... Staff were kind, ability to leave luggage before and after check-in a real benefit. Rooms are clean and basic, but no coffee making facilities was a disappointment to find. I would rather have had a kettle and done without the now pointless TV in the room. About 20 mins walk from the cathedral. Note no USB charging points in room. Breakfast was nice.

The hotel is a 5 to 10 minute walk from the main railway station. The staff are extremely helpful, polite and professional. The rooms are very clean and there is a restaurant on the premises that serves breakfast should you decide to include it. The city centre is also a 5 to 10 minute walk to the Cathedral Square. Highly recommended,

This was a bit of an odd hotel. It was in a good location but as you approach, you can tell it's more geared to be something else. Rooms were fine but basic. There was no kettle which was a first for us. Breakfast was just fine. It definitely felt more like 3* than 4*. Sirens at night were an issue too. Worth it for the location but pricey for what it was

I had a wonderful 1-night stay at the Maternushaus. The location was perfect, within walking distance from the Cologne main train station (Köln Hauptbahnhof). The facility was very clean, and, while not fancy by any means, it had all that I needed: a very clean single room with private bathroom and a comfortable bed, TV, several electric outlets, good WiFi, etc. The included breakfast was excellent, and there's also a free drinking water station. The staff was very kind and helpful. Above all, I was very thankful for an onsite chapel with 24x7 perpetual Adoration.
