This place has seen better days and is in need of some updating. Room was large and comfortable and staff trying their best but place was uncomfortably quiet and lacking atmosphere and onsite restaurant is poor. Ok base for exploring local area but could probably find better in this price range.

Lovely walks
The location of the hotel is very good with some lovely walks in the grounds. The staff were very friendly and helpful but the hotel needs attention especially outside around the bar area which actually needed cleaning properly. The evening meal was very enjoyable but tea with breakfast not so good.

The place is super dated and run down. The old Manor House building is barely used. But open… and dated, dirty and unloved. Instead the terrible concrete bunker of building attaches to it with old tiny rooms, dates decor, zero atmosphere was where everyone was staying and hanging out. So many missed opportunities.. overgrown flowerbeds, stained carpets everywhere, tired staff, neglected building. It has huge potential to be something very special but in desperate need of an update. It’s set in a stunning setting. But right now I think it’s probably jist a place for cheap events, conferences etc. Feels like they are in the last days of its life. Staff, decor, up keeping, grounds.. all very sad and way below Average. The only one good think that was above average was the breakfast and dinner. Generous portions and much better quality. But they are all set in very dated unloved setting and staff running around tired. As an interior designer I wish I could get my hands on this place to bring the love and life back in to it. But.. looking at the state of it I doubt there is any money left to reinvest as it’s been neglected for many years. I wouldn’t come back again.. unless they hire me to make the place alive again.

The staff are very friendly but the hotel needs investment. Entertainment provided by G-Squared was exceptional. The gym and spa were empty, despite being ‘fully booked’ which was disappointing.

The property does need some upgrade especially carpets. Wifi did not work in the bedroom. Staff were excellent. A long walk to bar/restaurant and bedrooms. It is a very big hotel. We had tp pay for everything as we went along no room charging, possibly due to the pandemic? Not the best value overall.

We returned to Heythrop for our 5th wedding anniversary having got married there back in 2016. It was clear to see as soon as we arrived that covid has had a huge impact on how the hotel is being run and it appears the hotel is doing everything possible to get guests in. Where it used to promote its spa and golf weekends they now seem to be focussing in family breaks, which is perfectly understandable in the current climate. Unfortunately with this, the quality seems to have slipped, most noticeably in the restaurant areas. The staff appear undertrained and some speak little English. Guests were asking them for things and it either took a long time get them or they didn’t get them at all. We had dinner as part of our package but I had ordered an additional glass of wine with it. As only 1 person was taking payment, it took 20 minutes for us to be able to pay for the wine. The food quality was also basic. I suspect they may have been over chips served at dinner and the quality of the sausage, bacon and bread at breakfast was very basic. Felt like everything was bought in bulk in the cheapest way possible. The hotel has gone cash free during covid but this also meant you couldn’t charge things to your room, which seemed a little odd. It hasn’t put us off returning to Heythrop as it has a special place in our hearts and we are excited to see the changes Warner will make to it in the future

There were a number of issues with our stay , we had a senior suite the bathroom was huge but no where to dry towels , the pictures show a old stately house but our room was in an 1970s concrete building, the swimming pool was no deeper than our bath in the room , the meals were of a good standard but not sure they were worth £32 for 3 courses plus a glass of Coke for £3.20, but saying that the house / concrete block is set in beautiful grounds , Warner hotels have a lot to improve when they take over the running of this hotel

Beautiful location, with lots of activities to do. We bought our bikes & had a great time exploring the resort’s trails and seeing the wildlife. Would 100% recommend if you’re looking for leisure activities. The room was ok, but the decor was a little dated and our duvet was raggedy. Bathroom however was modern and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious; I was pleased to see vegetarian options, but I’d avoid the kale smoothie, which our server advised was made the previous day so wasn’t fresh! With such large grounds & 300+ rooms, I understand the upkeep is challenging but overall we had a really lovely stay

Excellent service during these difficult times!
Service from all of the staff, especially the Restaurant and Bar was excellent during these difficult times. We were advised there would be a long wait for food when we ordered, however there appeared to be no additional wait at all over our 3 day stay. (Breakfast and Dinner). The restrictions relating to the swimming pool and having to book so far in advance were frustrating compared to previous stays, however considering the restrictions are essential it was managed extremely well by the staff and the children still enjoyed their swim. All areas appeared to be being cleaned regularly after each guest and considering it was half term and that the hotel had over 250 guests (as advised) we had no complaints at all. Shame the new owners plan to turn it in to an adults only resort in 2021/22.

Showing its age but enjoyable stay.
Very pleasant stay for weekend. Menu a bit limited in choice and portions to big for us. Whole place could do with "refreshing" and is a bit tired in places in and out. Staff very good, friendly and helpful.

We loved our weekend stay at Heythrop Park. We didn't make use of all the facilities, besides using bicycles and cycling around the resort area. The room was comfy and breakfast was good.

Myself and wife checked in...went for drinks in the bar, table service, large groups of gents on golfing trips, so had to wait to be greeted and served...more staff needed...restaurant food ok and service in restaurant very good. In particular a young chap called Tom, who was very helpful... in the morning approx 07-00am we were evacuated due to fire alarm sounding...not many staff on duty..no fire marshals .no one social distancing outside as rain was bucketing down... quite frightening...after half an hour everyone went back into the hotel...no explanation..I contacted the hotel to advise about proper signage, training for staff etc....we will not be staying here again...let down experience

Hi. Fire alarm went off at approx 7am in the morning. This is fine as these things happen. The disappointing part was the terrible customer service that followed. Once the fire alarm went off, about 100 or so guests were all grouped together at one of the congregation points for about 30mins - many without face masks. However at no point did any member of staff go to inform the guests what was going on or advise on any procedures

The set two course meal was both limited and the food was dreadful. They charged nearly £17 for a small bottle (Benjamin) Of champagne. The hotel is in a great setting and under normal circumstances it is an ideal venue... just don’t eat there!

The hotel speaks for itself, excellent atmosphere, amazing rooms, fantastic staff and a great place to book. Unfortunately we had a great experience until the fire alarms went off at 7:30 in the morning. We had evacuated and I understand there is less staff in this pandemic but the response from the hotel wasn’t great. I was tired and was expecting a great sleep but due to the fire alarm I did go back to sleep after an hour and missed breakfast. The hotel should have at-least open breakfast for another hour as I had paid for breakfast for two but it was to late to get there and the staff still provided me with a coffee which I was great full for. I just wish someone had come around after or while we checked out and asked if we were ok and apologise for the sleep. I am looking forward to a response from the hotel. Regards

Great hotel and grounds. Originally booked for a wedding which has been postponed but ideal venue for wedding next year. Well worth exploring the old house whilst there. Comfortable beds and recently redecorated room. Covid restrictions well handled by staff and management. I would definitely visit again.

We had a lovely 2 night stay a good place to stay for all the places we wanted to see Staff where very helpful and nothing was to much trouble. The hotel room was very clean the only thing we didnt know was they wasn't aloud to make the bed which would have been helpful when arriving,when we phoned reception they where straight on it to what we needed clean towels and cups Would stay
