WOW. I loved this beautiful, comfortable, quiet, historic hotel. It’s in the heart of an adorable neighborhood, free parking, close to an el stop. The room was big and beautiful and comfortable, with a fridge and coffee. I will definitely stay here again. I’m so excited to find a hotel I like in Chicago.

Great are surrounding the property - had no idea this part of Chicagoland existed. Room was perfectly fine, very clean, new fixtures in the bathroom. Staff was great. Didn't get to use the restaurant/bar, but looked good and had some great deals. Right next to commuter rail and the green line, east trip into the city.

The location is excellent- walking to restaurants, shopping and sites. Sadly, the hotel restaurant doesn’t open for breakfast or supply a fresh brew coffee center in the lobby. Missing the services and ambiance of earlier days.

The staff were all friendly, including the guy who was helping with setting up the workshop and lunch. The property looks old but it’s well converted and very clean. The Italian restaurant on the first floor was excellent. The fettuccine Alfredo was out of this world, though it didn’t come with salad at all. The waiter said it was à la cart. So far I am impressed with the hotel. My friend who arrived here the night before me says that the bed was very comfortable. My friend is a picky one so I know the bed must be a good one. I wasn’t expecting a microwave or mini fridge because it looks like an old hotel. I was wrong. It had a separate room, the microwave and the mini fridge.

The Carlton Hotel is a lovely property, but a bit outdated. The staff was fine. The hotel could do with some enthusiasm and boosting of local tourism. It has a unique spot since there’s not really any good hotels in Oak Park. They should have happy hours and also have breakfast in the morning or at least host it at the poor Phil’s.

Very run down old super hot room . Black female sitting in back on phone waited 13 min to check in she saw us but remained on phone . Thin walls door didn’t seal . Unsafe

Headboard and table had very obvious dust on them- but the bathroom was very clean, and room was nicely tidy. Staff not able to assist on creating a comfortable temperature in our rooms (family members also has stays here), and when attempting to purchase bottled water from vending machine, only received diet pepsi, which was flat and out of date by nearly a year. Despite the age of building it was nicely quiet, and a conveniently close option to hop on the train.

The place has personality. Our room had high ceiling, a little dining area and kitchen with a microwave fridge, blackout curtains and a king bed, all useful and such delightful old style, nothing sterile about it, although it was clean and modern where it counted. And reasonable rates. Loved going downstairs to the pub/restaurant and having great food in a friendly atmosphere.

Historical hotel but exceptionally clean. Extremely convenient to shopping and the El without hearing the El. The hotel is handicap accessible with necessary lifts but historic design does make some of the accessibility features slightly inconvenient.
