"We stayed for one night in a suite booked through Expedia and unfortunately the experience did not meet expectations, particularly given the price paid. We chose the suite because it was advertised as having a separate sitting area and complimentary WiFi. However, the room did not appear to have a genuinely separate seating area as described, and we were not provided with any WiFi information on arrival. There were several maintenance and cleanliness issues, including a broken and unstable table, an empty shower gel dispenser, an unpleasant odour coming from the bathroom, and a room telephone that did not work. We also attempted to contact room service at around 7pm and received no answer. The sofa bed was particularly disappointing. Our child, who normally sleeps very well, struggled to sleep on it and we did not feel it was suitable for use as a child's bed. The room was extremely hot on arrival, with the windows and curtains left open on one of the hottest days of the year. Despite putting the fans on immediately, it took a long time for the room to become comfortable. The hotel itself felt tired and dated in several areas and would benefit from refurbishment and improved maintenance. We were also disappointed by the breakfast arrangements. Information provided stated that weekday breakfast, including Mondays, was served from 7:00am. However, as it was a Bank Holiday Monday, breakfast did not start until 8:00am. "Paying more than £200 for a midweek one night stay, you have certain expectations. The room was nice, the bathroom modern, the staff at check in very pleasant. We arrived during a heatwave. The room was hot (the thermostat said 26 celsius / 80F). We tried adjusting the air conditioning to cool the room, but it didn't do anything. There was a powerful fan that at least moved the air around, but no cooling. The windows were all sealed shut, even though the hotel is in a historic building and they should have been openable. Thus we sweated through the night even sleeping with the fan on and without using the comforter. The room was no cooler in the morning although it had cooled off considerably outside. Additionally the wifi was pretty poor (rhere was an option to buy better) and the coffee was Nescafe sachets. These are the kinds of things I expect in a £60 hotel room, but not in one costing three times as much."

"Stayed here for two nights. The room was clean and spacious. Good facilities in room but it was incredibly hot during our visit so a fridge in room would have improved our stay as no air conditioning but not many days in England you would need it. Breakfast was lovely, small but everything you could want. Evening menu was a bit limited and I probably would go somewhere else for an evening meal. The staff were all excellent, friendly and helpful."
