"The lady at the front desk was very helpful. The first room she gave us had very little air conditioner actually coming out of the vent so she moved us to the room next-door, which had the same problem. She then moved us around the corner to another room which had more than acceptable amount of air-conditioning although on a really hot summer day could have been questionable. The bed was very comfortable & clean. The shower seemed to have been remodeled compared to the first two that she gave us. The TV was definitely newer in the third room. There was the weirdest thing in a hotel like this that still has carpet on the floors; there was a bidet in the bathroom and it actually worked! Weird for a Super 8, but ok…The room smelled too much like chemical cleaning products and all had carpet. It’s in a great location right next to a Love’s and could be like a really great property if they would put some work into the rooms. It was really cool that whoever actually does own the hotel and live there had a really awesome garden. it was acceptable since she was able to place us in a room with a working air conditioner, but for the price we have had way way better hotels that fit into the same category as a Super 8. Also, she said she didn’t know which rooms had a good air conditioner or not. There needs to be a list and they need to give customers the ones that actually work and fix the other ones."

"Huge party cove!!First let me say the house was beautiful, and exactly as pictured. My large family fit nicely and had a great time!Con… we were unaware this particular cove has a huge party every Saturday. 20 boats lined up 5 ft off this dock, tied together, and blasted music the entire day!!!!We came to relax and be with family. We brought a slide and boat etc. we were unable to even be at the dock all day due to this huge party. The kids couldn’t swim and we couldn’t fish. The boaters had so many floaties and took up so much room when we tried to get out with our boat we had to get the police involved just so we could back out because they wouldn’t move. The same happened trying to return. The entire cove was open so I’m not sure why they set up right at this dock but the police said this is an every weekend thing and there’s nothing they can really do. I don’t believe this is the owners fault but definitely something that needs disclosed. Being stuck inside our entire Saturday was a huge waste of money."

"I cannot rave enough about this property! My family and I have stayed at multiple Vrbo locations across the country, but this one is stand out! The attention to detail and amenities provided was top notch. Any questions I had were answered very timely, the house was immaculately clean, and there was no end to entertainment on the premises. The quality of household items was next to none. Outstanding grill, an unbeatable lake view, fire pits, hot tub on point, and the list goes on and on. Our 3 year old son and 15 year old daughter were in heaven as well as my husband and I over the moon to take advantage of the views and all the comforts of home. 10/10 highly recommend this spot! We intend to go back this fall! The amount of items provided cut down tremendously on our packing , as they had canoes, kayaks, etc. at the new boat house and dock. Local recommendations for food and recreation did not fail. This place felt like a hidden gem!"

"Everything about this property was excellent grade. The only thing that could be improved is the AC. We were there for a week when the temperatures were in the high 90’s with an index of over 100. The second bedroom was especially hot to sleep in. Overall, we had a wonderful time"

"We may be more particular than most people. In our room (402), the door to the balcony needs repaired as is hard to open & the shower nozzle needs replaced. Cleaning of the room was just okay/not excellent. Pool area was beautiful & Doc’s was a nice amenity. We were particularly disappointed in the Summit Restaurant, which has excellent service but the food quality was lacking. Everything was heavily over-peppered. Overall Shanghai-La Resort is a beautiful facility in a gorgeous location. We just maybe expected a little higher standard in our room."
