Walkable Charleston Apartment to Historic Downtown
Summary:
The Kiawah Suite features a beautiful one queen bedroom and one bath, as well as a full kitchen and living space. Located on the 1st floor of a historic Charleston home built in the late 1800s, this suite overlooks Cannon Street's neighborhood & provides a true Charleston experience for guests. Walkable to MUSC, CofC, King Street’s most popular retail and restaurants, & more.
The Space:
The Kiawah Suite summons the essence of a truly refined Antebellum Charleston experience, through truly paired with every modern convenience. The kitchen is a timeless centerpiece, featuring a timeless La Cornue gas oven and cooktop from Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône, France, complemented by a whisper-quiet, American-made Vent-A-Hood. Guests are invited to celebrate Old World culinary traditions using top-of-the-line All-Clad cookware and glassware. Custom cabinetry, the kitchen island, and soaring eight-foot barn doors are handcrafted on-site from reclaimed heart pine, sourced during the home’s renovations.
Entertainment is seemlessly modern with a Samsung 4k Smart television, offering complimentary access to Xfinity cable, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu. Each bedroom is designed for rest, offering sound machines and smart charging stations, surrounded by cypress shiplap walls and centuries-old heart pine—much of it dating back to the early 1600’s.
All bathrooms are a masterful blend of history and luxury, tiled with original repurposed Vermont slate dating to 1851, when the house was built by shipwrights. Salvaged standing-seam tin from the original front porch roof forms a striking backsplash behind the hand-hammered, nickel-plated vessel sinks. Period-inspired water closets sourced from Kent, England complete the Old World aesthetic.
Outdoors, guests can embrace the Charleston tradition: relaxing on the porch and enjoying the coastal breeze. Rocking chairs overlook Cannon Street, while a private rear porch and patio offer additional space to unwind, complete with a lounge sofa and Acorn barbecue grill.
Operating Permit: OP2025-06529
Guest Access:
This suite has access to the large front porch with exclusive, dedicated seating, a private rear porch, and patio with Green Egg charcoal grill, complementary charcoal. Complimentary parking for one vehicle.
The Neighborhood:
The home is set in Cannonborough, an inviting downtown area blending historic and stylish residential homes. It’s steps away from the College of Charleston, as well as Upper King Street’s eateries and shopping.
Getting Around:
There is plenty to see and places to visit within walking distance. Uber and Lyft are readily available.
Other Things to Note:
We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible restaurants such as Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Malagon, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat. If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.
Interaction with Guests:
We are available for questions and we're glad to assist in any way we can.

Wow. We loved this property - really had no idea how nice it would be when we booked. Beds were comfortable. All rooms appointed well. Beautifully stocked kitchen (wish we'd stayed long enough to cook! lol). Restaurant next-door (Southbound) was devine, not to mention convenient! And Holey City Bagel across the street had fantastic bagels. Great for bringing back to the room and enjoying them with our coffee.
We're so hoping to be back - 2 days in Charleston isn't even a drop in the bucket! - and if so, we'll be back to the Manor House!
My husband and I stayed at this home for one week. It has been renovated top to bottom. Starting with the kitchen, you will have a set of great cookware (which is not always the case), assortment of spices, coffee, tea, raw sugar, creamer, set of knives and various kitchen utensils and complete silverware. You will have a huge washer and dryer plus detergent. The linens have been monogramed (sheets, towels) and the towels are nice and plush. This is the first place that has a hair dryer with three-temperature settings (a must for me). It's a very convenient location (1.5 miles from King Street), and a great way to get your steps in. We either Ubered or walked the whole time we were there. There is a great restaurant next door called Southbound where you will get live fire cooking. You won't be disappointed. There are so many restaurants in the area, and they were all excellent. You have Ladles below you which has homemade soups and sandwiches; this place is a must.
George and Randall were always available to any of our needs/questions, etc. Their responses were always immediate.
I'm a finicky person, and this home satisfied all my needs. You won't be disappointed.
Top to bottom, this was a great stay experience. Such beautiful vintage woodwork throughout with attention to every detail. Central location to downtown or quick access to bridge. 100% would stay here again. Hosts were great communicators and obviously take great pride in their units. 5+ stars in every regard! Thanks Morgan and George!
Morgan did a great job of welcoming us to their home and properties. Communication before and the day of arrival was excellent. She was very welcoming and explained the rental and the amenities and location expertly. The home was well equipped and very comfortable. The furnishings and space were comfortable and welcoming!! It was a Covid friendly and safe environment. Many thanks for a wonderful and memorable stay!!!
This was one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed. It was the perfect spot for my husband and I and the location is prime. It was private enough, but still close enough to King St. The kitchen was so nice and we had everything we needed. The hosts were very easy to get in touch with and very friendly. We would definitely recommend this place and we’re saving it for future trips to Charleston!
We have had an absolutely amazing experience here! The home is stunning and even more beautiful in person. I fell in love with the kitchen and repeatedly told my boyfriend "can we stay here forever?" "Let's have a house like this someday" the house comes stocked with detergents and toiletries which was great. The TV has Netflix and the works which was great for our cozy lazy days. The front porch is beautiful and super comfy. I cannot say enough how heavenly this home is. The bed is great, a softer mattress and as someone who has a firm mattress I still enjoyed the bed. The bathroom is amazing and I loved the shower. The owners were great and available whenever we needed them. The parking behind the home is big enough to accommodate several cars. For our first trip to the east coast we could not have asked for a better place to stay. It is central and within walking distance to so many things. Amid COVID and riots we felt EXTREMELY safe here. We had people above us and next to us and hardly ever heard them. Being in close proximity I was a little worried the noise would be an issue but it wasn't. Thank you for opening your home to us, we can't wait to come back :)
