"We absolutely loved our stay at the Royston. We both opted in for the 3 course dinner and the food was excellent. Worth staying in a wet Welsh evening. We really appreciated how as a dog friendly establishment they cater for our dog. Treats in a room and lots of fuss.
Lovely small touches like fresh homemade cookies in the room , great full cooked fry up in the morning. Great sized room , with en suite . "

Everything was provided, from ecofriendly shampoo and bodywash to pristine robes and towels, a lovely coffee machine, fresh mik with the tea facilities and an excellent guide to the house, its facilities and local walks. "Generally a good experience, but with reservations. A hotel of character, much nicer than bland city tower blocks, but ready for overall refurbishment. Very un-green: no double glazing anywhere I saw. Room cleaning skimpy - glass shelf over sink always left unwiped, tea provisions not topped up adequately, bath not wiped round. Food excellent quality, well prepared. More choice of breakfast buffet items would be welcome. If you are solo and book in advance for dinner, be aware that you might find your table is in the remote and spartan reception/corridor area, not the actual restaurant - staff said they wished the restaurant was larger, which sounded like they routinely over-book. Convenient location for public transport- bus stops round the corner and railway station about ten minutes walk. "
