Our recent stay at this hotel was generally enjoyable, with just a minor hiccup that impacted our experience. The only issue we encountered was with the fridge in our room. Hoping to keep some food and drinks fresh, we utilized the fridge, only to discover that it wasn't working as expected. We were informed that it's a cooler, not a fridge, but unfortunately, the cooling function wasn't operational at all. As a result, we had to discard the perishable items we had purchased. Despite this inconvenience, we want to highlight that our overall satisfaction with the hotel remains high. The level of service provided by the staff was commendable, and they were responsive to our needs throughout our stay

Great Hotel, great location and great staff
The hotel was very clean and exceeded our expectations. We had a last minute late night booking and the staff especially Helena was waiting for us to check in. She was very helpful and made a long night enjoyable. The breakfast in the morning was excellent and the location was amazing.

Great location in a nice upmarket & safe area in Cape Town (behind Table Mountain). Some good restaurants in walking distance around. Great parking. Room was a decent size, however smelt of tobacco smoke. It could do with an upgrade & freshen up. The only USB charger point we found was on the back of the TV (but only charged with the TV on). Could do with a few more points elsewhere in the room, as all other hotels we have stayed in have. The shower (in bath) was a nightmare to use, difficult taps to turn, meaning hot water continued to run until husband's muscle power could turn it off. Not great having extremely hot water running when children using it. Despite negatives, would stay again for location.

Great location! The staff is super friendly amd helpful. Hazel in particular was Amazing! but all staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfasy buffet was excellent and spot on. Thanks team!

VIP Treatment - Southern Sun Newlands
Had a wonderful short stay here, staff very friendly and went the extra mile in terms of accommodating our request regarding the check-out time. Food was great and the rooms are spacious and very clean. Will certainly be staying here each time I visit Cape Town. Oh, the prices are very reasonable for the VIP treatment they offer.

Another pleasant stay at Newlands Sun hotel.
This was not our first stay at your hotel. We always enjoy our stay, that is why we always come back. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. They make you feel welcome the moment you arrive. We will definitely return again. Thanks to the staff for their hospitality.

Great friendly hotel and breakfast!
I asked for a room with a view of the mountain, shower and no bath, good wifi and quiet. The room allocated to me was pretty much all of these, other than that the air-con from next door could be heard a bit. The bedding was clean and super comfortable and shower great! The breakfast was perfect from 6h00-(I think) to 10h30 and had many healthy options also. Check in even offered a custom welcome drink, and staff friendly and great parking included. The air-con is a bit old wall-mount unit and noisy when running, but the windows do open. I then asked for a late check out, and got that also, with no extra charge! They even allow you use of a nearby gym if you need and if you are Virgin Active, there is one 4 min walk away. So unusual, and one of the best Southern Sounds stayed at ever.

Disappointing experience
The overall stay was good, but I had a very bad experience when checking out. It was about 2 hours to my flight, and at checkout the lady overcharged me by about 4000 rand! I would have, under normal circumstances understood and requested for a refund, but I was shocked that she didn’t even seem surprised. The worst part was that after being refunded, the only apology I got was from an assistant manager, after having stayed at the hotel for almost 5 nights. It’s very disappointing that the front office staff treat guests with little to no respect. Except for the lady on duty that night at the reception, and the assistant general manager on duty the night of my checkout, all other staff are great though, especially the doorman and supper staff. But disappointed as I would have liked to stay in this hotel during my monthly trips to Cape Town.

One of the best hotels I have ever experienced anywhere. The staff were outstanding, the room was first class and the dining was excellent. I will certainly return and would recommend it highly to anyone coming to Cape Town.

Superbly managed. I booked on my app (last minute) as I arrived in Cape Town. 30 minutes later I arrived at the hotel expecting a delay or to have to wait but I was immediately checked in by the friendly and professional staff. The breakfast was well managed and check out effortless.

This hotel is my home away from home because of the very friendly staff (reception, cleaning and dining) who make me feel welcome every time. It is also excellently situated, right at /main road and I can use local taxis to go almost everywhere.
