Not bad but not great either
Excellent service by host. Parking available for a car or 2. Room clean and comfortable however was very cold. This ruined my stay. Needed extra heater. Used aircon to get some warmth. Shower was good. Main disappointment was not refunded for part of stay as had to leave 2 days early.

A little gem
We stayed here for 3 nights 17-19 March. It was amazing. Our host kept us smiling with his great sense of humour and charm. In spite of the worrying times he always made sure we were comfortable and brought us champagne while we relaxed pool side. The accommodation itself was spacious beautifully decorated and cleaned meticulously. At breakfast we were served fruit and the option of cooked food too which was very tasty. Very friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere. Thank you for making it such a lovely part of our holiday. In terms of location it's walking distance to the main road with plenty art galleries and eateries to explore.

Disappointing.
There are nicer places to stay in Franschhoek. We were given no notification of loadshedding times, we arrived home from the wine tram to complete darkness and one candle in the room. We requested more and were given ONE more candle to light the entire room and bathroom. There was no water in the fridge when we arrived. A soap dish, without soap. Handsoap and shower gels were bolted into the wall. Two ply toilet paper on the roll, but single sheet for the roll - it just felt like they were cutting corners wherever possible. Breakfast on the 2nd day was half the quantity of the first day "because of loadshedding" but that's no excuse.

Dear Roxane, Thank you for staying with us and your feedback. Regarding load shedding, on the table outside of your suite I places a printed time shedule for times the electricity would go off. However, the morning you refer to they did not inform and the electricity was cut off during breakfast service. You were more than welcome to join for hot breakfast after the electricity came back on as all the other guests had cold breakfast early and came for hot at 10;00am. We also placed a large candle in every room. These candles are big enough to light our rooms, but you were yet again welcome to ask for another. Still today with the Corona Virus no corners are being cut, we make sure our guests are happy but you never complaint once. We hope you have a safe trip home and that we will see you next year. Great location, lovely staff and superb breakfasts. Beautiful gardens with refreshing lap pool. Set in a quiet side street. Only 5 mins stroll into the centre. Comfy bed and nicely decorated room. Only negative was our bathroom was quite dated but we were told this was all going to be upgraded over the winter and we saw some of the other room’s bathrooms which were really nice.

Don't stay here if you don't want to get robbed
We enjoyed our stay, until someone stole $200 and the rand equivalent of about $25 from our hotel safe. The safe has a key--I guess we should have known better. Our cab ride back to Cape Town told us that he knew of other visitors who had the same thing happen to them. Word to the wise--don't trust a safe in a Franschooek hotel. The property acted like they were going to do the right thing and refund us (even sending a "screenshot" of the refund) but we haven't gotten a dime back. So much for a romantic honeymoon

There didn’t seem to be any physical security apart from a single door lock and there were no staff on site all night. Most of the property looked tired and the pool wasn’t clean. There were broken tiles around the pool. Our room was next to a water pump that kept going off. Location was good.

Broken tile thank you for pointing it out we will have a look, for the pool pump it comes on every morning at 10:00 and shuts down at 17:00, to minimize any disturbance to our guests. For security we have cameras over the full property that gets monitored by our security company and ourselves, Franschhoek has always been very safe to all visiting. Absolutely gem of a find! Great location - 10 mins walk into centre of Franschhoek, gorgeous facilities - large suite style room with great en-suite (both shower and separate bath were plus for us golfers!), loads of space and beautifully clean! Bed was king size - and very comfy. Beautiful breakfast served in almost afternoon tea style with platter of continental offerings prior to cooked to order hot food. Special mention to the staff - Ellen was amazingly helpful and after local restaurant recommendation offered to phone up and book us table so we were guaranteed a table with view of sunset. If you are staying in the area, I would compel you to book here as I can’t see how anything else would be better. We hope to be back at some point on our next visit to South Africa

A very friendly, welcoming establishment, within walking distance of the economic centre of the town. The breakfast was very tasty and plentiful. The room was very spacious and had lots of great touches like current magazines and fresh milk in the fridge. I would have liked to be able to stay longer - but there's always a next time!

Boutique hotel in good location
Nice hotel, in good location within a short walk of the town. Public areas and pool very nice as was the breakfast and service. Guestroom was a little cramped with more furniture than it needed, the safe was in the bathroom next to the toilet and not very easily accessible. The bathroom had a certain small that permeated throughout and was a little unpleasant. The bathroom was very dated and reminded me of the showers at my school, whilst the shower was massive, the bathroom was tiny and you could really only have one person at a time. I'm sure the other rooms are okay, but avoid room no.4.

Stunning modern guesthouse with great service.
Amazing guest house, fantastic design and service. Was about 10 minutes walk to lovely town of Franschhoek. Breakfast was superb. Pool was warm with comfortable sun loungers. Would highly recommend a stay here. Just 1 minor criticism would be the need for an umbrella next to the part of the pool that does not have shade. Otherwise perfect!

Very hard to beat!
Vive la Vie is a real gem! A 5 room, classy boutique B & B with glorious gardens and an easy walk into beautiful Franschhoek. Our bedroom was located in the gardens, near the pool, and was perfect in every way. Breakfast cooked to order each morning and served on a lovely covered terrace at the back of the main house. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or return ourselves.

Exceptional
The host, Peter, was exceptional. His attention to detail and the very high bar he has set himself is fantastic. He has thought of pretty much everything and runs a thoroughly relaxing, beautiful guest house in a very safe area. The town centre and Wine Tram is a 10 min walk away, ready to transport you to a Väst ni ver of vineyards for tasting without the need to drive. Superb restaurants are also very close. I would highly reccomend staying here

Stunning boutique hotel
Our room was beautiful and well appointed. Breakfast was great. A 15 minute walk to town through a pleasant neighbourhood. Only downside was the property next door is undergoing renovation so some noise in the morning.
