Watch out for 100% mark-up on the electricity use!
While the property was pretty much as described there were some issues. The pool heater or the thermostat did not seem to work. The pool would only get up to ambient temperature slowly as the day went by and the sun warmed the surface. It was bought to the manager's attention but not really ever resolved. The main problem however was the charges for electricity usage. You will be charged 15 Cents a Watt as it mentions in their agreement. Now they first tried to say this was normal. But the local utility/power company is LCEC. The actual cost per Watt is around 7 to 8 Cents. You can call LCEC to confirm this. So this management company is effectively marking up the cost of electric by 100% ! They also do not provide any weekly credit towards electric which seems even more unfair. The home consumes at least $25 of electric per week even if sitting empty. So without the weekly credit you are paying towards property overheads. Then, in addition to that, expect to pay double the cost per Watt. When questioned, the manager said the extra cost is their "admin fee". Wow!!! She also got quite annoyed that I dared questioned the mark-up. Maybe its because I live locally and I am not a naive tourist that doesn't know anything. Personally, I think the electric charge was outrageous. They take your credit card details when you arrive and check the electric meter either weekly or when you depart. Other than that, the property was reasonable maintained and the elderly relatives that we booked this home for, enjoyed their stay.
