Although our room was great, 1 roll of toilet paper for two adults for 5 days was tight and no office over weekends, we had to buy our own. My family stayed in various rooms throughout the resort and their rooms were really dated and not very good.

No hot water for 3 days
Third day into 6 day stay the hot water service went cold Was told by Kurt 0429 783 640 that we can't get a plumber on a Sunday My quick search on internet found first 6 plumbing companies in Cairns has a 24/7 call out service Then after asking again on Monday was told sorry couldn't get a plumber today as well No hot water for rest of stay

Excellent
The Lakes Resort had very mixed reviews so we were somewhat hesitant...but we needn't have been. Everything was excellent! We booked a 2 bed deluxe unit which was clean and spacious and in good condition. We loved the numerous pool areas and enjoyed the bbq area, tennis court and bocce. Onsite cafe and restaurant open daily and the staff were lovely. An easy 8-10 minute walk to the main road for buses into town. We loved it, would definitely stay again.

Horrible, not a Hotel, this is a gated community
This is not a HOTEL. The reception is only open limited hours during the week and closed during weekends. Check-in is not a problem as they leave your keys and map in a lockbox outside the main door, but if you need anything there is no one you can talk to. The big red button outside the main door (suggested for after hours call) doesn't haver a real service active. it just points you to a number in your receipt? there are other numbers stuck outside the main door, but they do not answer. After checking out on a Sunday morning, I needed to store my luggage a few hours before my flight, I had to make multiple international calls trying to reach someone without success. eventually, I was lucky to spot the manager walking inside the hall, from the outside. He gladly accepted to take my bag. He even gave me his number to text or call him and we agreed upon a time for me to retrieve my bag, he told me he was going home but he would come back when I texted him. When I reached out during the day he didn't answer for over 30 minutes. Eventually I was able again to spot someone walking inside but they could not open the main door from the inside, Luckly the manager answered their phone calls and they gave me my bag. In the meantime other guests needed to check in but they forgot to put the keys inside the lockbox outside. All of This was on a Sunday before 2pm. These are services you normally expect from a Hotel with a reception.

The property was great, and very well maintained. We had opted to stay in an apartment with a kitchen as we were travelling with children. Our back door led to a shallow pool perfect for the little ones, and the rooms were big and clean. Pillows were not great but you expect that from hotels, but staying at a place specifically with a kitchen, you'd expect more than a single serve small pot and half size fry pan to cook with. Despite having a full kitchen it was half stocked with utensils, a bit of a pain.

We spent 4 nights at the Lakes resort Cairns. The resort overall is beautiful and the 4 pools are very nicely done. It is also conveniently located between the airport and the main Cairns city. In terms of the apartment, the size is quite appropriate and the amenities are all in place and good working condition. However, we did notice a lack of cleanliness with cob webs handing from the ceilings. The security case had a manual key which we had to collect from reception the next day. And the key didnt work. We would expect to see an electronic case in most such places now. The reception timings are quite difficult 8am to 5.30pm (but probably this is the case for all resorts in Cairns). For those on a holiday, by the time your activity finishes, there is no one at the reception to help out. They do have a 24 hr call center but its hardly of any help. For eg, someone parked his car at my allocated space and I complained to the call center but not much luck. Also the reception is closed over the weekend which is quite a hassle if you are checking in anytime between Friday evening to Sunday evening. Overall we had a good time, but we do believe certain advancements in the apartments and overall processes would definitely go a long way in realising the full potential of this beautiful property.

This property was different to the the hotel or resort suggested by it's name. It is more like a large complex of apartments with mostly permanent residents. It is also located about 4km away from the centre of Cairns. So technically North Cairns. Which is rather inconvenient unless you hire a car or are happy to pay for a lot of ubers. We arrived and were not able to enter the foyer as no one was there until we called the out of hours emergency number and a helpful young man who assisted us and allowed us to store our bags. He also was particularly helpful upon our check out allowing us to store our luggage until our evening flight some 8 hours after check out. Other staff we spoke to on the intercom were particularly unhelpful. There never really seemed to be anyone at the main desk in the lobby. Using Covid as an excuse to not have staff checking people in or responding to guest enquires is ridiculous particularly in a state that is not enforcing mask wearing. We were told that they don't have staff on seven days a week. In which case provide that information before someone books. The hotel is dated. Our room had leaking taps, flickering lights etc. The sauna was out of order and one pool we visited is in desperate need of improvement there is even a petition by the residents for this. The best part was the restaurant the thai food was incredible. However I think the hotel needs to be realistic about their offering as we did not get what we paid for. Substandard.

A grand dame.. in desperate need of a make-over. I’ve stayed at the lakes a few times and always found it clean and tidy… but standards have dropped. Oily floors, spartan furnishings with chips, breaks and cracks. It’s serviceable but quite a poor showing.

Minimalistic resort with very poor WiFi
The resort is located away from the busy city center, in a complex with many other apartment blocks. Our GF 2BR unit has direct access to the swimming pool. The unit has the basics we need for a few days stay. Getting into the carpark was a bit of a challenge, as it quite tight and the leak from the ceiling stained the rental car. Hope I won't get charged for it. We stayed in the unit during a rainy day, wished there is table tennis or pool table on-site. The unit, and the entire resort has very poor WiFi.

The resort is run down as there was old coffee and tea in kitchen the rest of resort was run down and need addressing also the cars parked around resort makes it hard to move was a lot of utes from trades staying there and is a bit far from town

Filthy, apartment smelt of urine and vomit. Doors didn’t shut and didn’t have locks. Carpets disgustingly stained. walls dirty & had holes and peeling paint. Tap fell off in the shower every time. Pools filled with bog, none of the amenities were working. Could feel the springs in the beds. Lucky to be a 2 star resort…and we had the “delux” apartment.

Beautiful entrance and gardens in the property, felt like we were driving into Disneyland! The room was well laid out, larger living space than we expected, and the kitchen had all the cooking utensils and pans we could need. Really enjoyed our stay here!

Pros: Spacious 2 bedroom unit with amazing pool facilities close to airport and a quick Uber ride from cairns. Thai restaurant on site was amazing. Cons: apartment needs a deep clean..air con vents were disgusting, some maintenance and new furniture (tables were stabilised by napkins). Reception arent open on weekends or after 5. Gym and sauna were broken. Huge gated community of mostly owner occupied units with a few holiday lets. We enjoyed our stay here for the price paid but it could have been so much better with just a few changes.

The Lakes Resort Cairns had lovely gardens throughout and was in an excellent location for the Tobruk Memorial Pool. However, our apartment didn't appear to have been cleaned properly - there were empty chip packets on the living room floor and empty toothpaste in the bathroom. A nice spot but things could have been cleaner.

The resort is excellent in presentation and very laid back atmosphere.Has a Thai restaurant in the resort which is worth trying and the staff there are nice.The rooms are well equipped and spacious.Would definitely go back.

Well looked after property, I liked the non contact key pickup also the unit was well stocked, my only issue was the stairs because of my knee issue but next time I will request a lower floor this is my fault

The Lakes - back on track... used to stay here a bit but starting staying elsewhere as the gardens and cleaning left a lot to be desired for awhile. Looks like they have done a deep clean and the gardens are gorgeous again. Friendly, helpful staff ... would stay again

Sand flies Sand flies Midges Midges(apparently Midges are also a type of sand fly but worse). People have to note that The Lakes Resort is next to swamp land thus YOU may get bitten by the Sand Flies and destroy YOUR skin with the most intense itch EVER. I picked up mine next to swimming pool. BUYER BEWARE.

Hello G. We are sorry to hear that the sandflies/ midges took a like to you. You are correct The Lakes is named after Centennial Lakes which are located next door. Some times of the year the midges can be a lot worse than others and people react in different ways. This is an issue we deal with all over Cairns. Nevertheless we are sad to hear of your experience and hope that the itch does subside and you feel better soon.
