We stayed at the Purobaires on the evnings of October 2 and 3, 2014. We like small boutique hotels but were misled by some of the TripAdvisor reviews. The biggest drawback was the location. Although geographically located in Palermo, supposedly a plush area of Buenos Aires, the hotel is in fact located in the very northwestern corner streets of an area that is now extremely dangerous to wander in. The staff kept telling us not to walk the Streets after 6 PM, not to carry any cash (?), not to use ATMs in the area, to alwys take taxis when coming and going, etc.
The second disappointment was the bathroom, not only small (expected) but difficult to maneuver in as one has to climb over a small and unstable stool to get in and out of the shower. Our room (202) had a window giving out on a 25 ft wall, which is dull and makes the room dark.
The third point is breakfast (always included in the room price in BA) where only sweets are offered: no fruit, no eggs, just cookies and pastries overflowing with sugar. There are All Bran and Corn Flakes cereals though. Coffee was excellent but the only juice, orange, was genuine Tang, now a reliable dishwasher cleaner.
Fourth, we had trouble finding the hotel at first as it is completely anonymous: there is no sign or lettering outside to indicate that this is a hotel. Of course the address is visible and we found the place but we thought this peculiar, perhaps related to the security problem mentioned above.
