Thank you to Sabrina the duty manager for responding to the issues we experienced positively and for taking ownership of them. She was a credit to the hotel, worked hard and clearly cared about the guest experience. Sabrina was also thoughtful as she knows the other issues we experienced (nothing to do with the hotel) following a recent visit to Mexico. We originally booked an accessible room. We did so purposefully because that room had a king sized bed. Unfortunately the room was tidy but was not clean. When we arrived there was unrine already in the toilet and the bathroom wasn’t to a standard one would expect for a £150+ (on average) room per night or the DoubleTree brand. It wasn’t a one off, it appeared to be a build up of a substandard lack of cleaning routine for some time as it included black mould in places. We were moved rooms as an ‘upgrade’ but it was only marginally better pointing to some systemic issues which we have been assured will be addressed. Overall it’s a nice property with some nice grounds and a bit of history; but we felt the rooms in person are dark and dusty and do not entirely live up to

Hotel clean / modern Good bar Great food Breakfast exceptional Grounds excellent The only negative for me and the one reason I will not be staying again is - they are a rural site and charge for parking £12/night (£12 for my stay). Personally I don’t mind paying a fee in a city where there is a choice but in a rural location it is not acceptable- a real shame. Suggesting to hotel. Add a parking barrier for the residents and add the fee to the room stay to hide the fee and give a clear spend to the stay.
