Quiet weekend away
My husband and I stayed here for a little anniversary weekend away. It was quiet, had everything we needed to cook, and beautiful views. Two things for future guests: the listing says basic soaps. I should have clarified before we stayed…there was only hand soap in the bathrooms. You will need to bring your own body soap and shampoo. Thankfully we had some of our own. Also, if you plan to do much online…don’t. The WiFi isn’t powerful enough to do a whole lot. However! This is a cabin for getting away. We loved the 100’s of vhs movies. It was like stepping back in time and reliving our youth. Would recommend for some romantic alone time.

Clean and great view. Make sure you have an all wheel drive/4 wheel drive vehicle. WiFi Internet was sufficient, but TV wasn’t able to access Internet. So, not able to watch streaming apps. Enjoyed the view immensely!!!

My wife and I wanted a cabin in the woods with a view and privacy and this cabin was perfect. We fell victim to the Southwest Airlines debacle over Christmas 2022 and Bill was very kind and gracious to be flexible with our rebooking. We stayed from 1/2-1/7 of 2023. A few notes: We are from the Gulf South and not familiar with winter driving conditions. When the listing says you need snow tires or chains, you do. There was about 3’ of snow around from the previous week and the driveway into the house is steep. The driveway was plowed, but with the weather we had it thawed some then refroze and the chains we picked up were necessary. It was a 4WD truck so I think that’s very helpful in that situation. Not necessarily sure how you’d rent that sort of thing from a typical agency so we used Turo which I highly recommend. Mandy, the property manager, was very helpful and responsive with a couple of things but mostly with my questions as a southerner and advice on getting in and out of the cabin. I don’t want to mislead anyone, I’m sure this was just typical stuff, but for me it was new and if you’re not familiar with mountain roads in the snow I’m writing this to you. Her help was well appreciated. I was concerned about a couple reviews mentioning bugs as wasps. Bill and Mandy were very open about what they have done to combat that and I appreciate it, but in the end, you’re in a legit log cabin in the woods. We had just a few small moths and had a visit from a stink bug that I just let go on his way. If you want something more akin to Sheetrock and instantaneous central heat, that’s a different rental. (There are baseboard heaters that kept us perfectly warm when it was as low as 11°F, they just take a little longer to warm up the house but totally adequate) This place was perfect for what we wanted.

Perfect place amazing view
Rustic cabin feel, Amazing views, 30 min from Boise. My family loved it, from the wild turkeys and dear walking across the property each morning, to sitting on the deck watching the sun rise -and enjoy the evening.

Overall, this location was as described. Excellent location with picturesque views and an abundance of wildlife. We visited in December, so it was necessary to use the fireplace-- renters take notice: you may not use the firewood on the premises! This is good to know, as you'll have to make a trek into town right away for firewood. The hardware store has bundles for a reasonable price. The house was clean-- our only complaint was the amount of bugs (both mini moths and waspy-type). Overall, a pleasant experience if you want to get away and just relax.

No communication. Insect infestation.
29th anniversary trip. Terrible communication. House was locked. No phone service. Called from local landline twice. No answer. Drive back to Boise. She texts that she can’t talk but gives me the code to get in. She says there are other things to go over such as bugs in the house. At this point I refuse to check in until she calls me. She does. Admits there are a few harmless bugs. Over the next two days we kill 10 yellow jackets in the house. Pine beetles are in the house by the HUNDREDS! We have to wear shoes because we step on them constantly. They wake us up crawling on us. Rodents crawling in the interior walls and gnawing. Woke us up. Banged on the wall with a shoe to make them leave. Texts to Manager goes unanswered for hours. Calls are not answered. Messages left are literally responded to with “I can’t talk right now”. Twice. I left a message and texted we were leaving a day early because we can’t take the insect infestation anymore. Please call us at the house. She texts “ I can’t talk right now” We left and stayed in Boise our last night. Sent email to owner. No response. This seems crazy based on reviews. Cannot and will not recommend. Run from this place!!

We are very sorry for this guest’s negative experience and have since contacted them and reimbursed them for their trouble and early departure. Bugs are always an issue at the cabin in the fall as they seek shelter from the cold through nooks and crannies in the logs, but this season has been especially challenging. We are upping our game in the battle against the bugs and strive to ensure all of our guests have a great experience. We guarantee to make things right when our house and hospitality don’t measure up.

The Log Cabin Experience!
What a beautiful and peaceful getaway. The drive in was stunning and only a quick 30 minutes from Boise. Loved sitting outside at night and just watching the stars from the deck. Will absolutely be returning on my next trip to Idaho.

Great View, Amazing Cabin
Stayed in this cabin with some buddies and had a great time, very relaxing and great views of the mountains from the cliffside. The night sky was also amazing; we turned off all the lights on the property and you could see the milky way. The inside of the cabin has a great layout and the decor was very cool, felt like a lot of love and memories were in this place and not just thrown together to look like it. Great taste in books too! Just a 15 minute drive gets you to Idaho City. This little town used to be the largest city in the NW 150 years ago and now is just a tiny former mining town of just under 500 people; everyone we talked to was very friendly. Stopped for a bite to eat at Trudy's Kitchen after a recommendation from Trudy herself after shopping at her antique store (she sold the restaurant years back and they kept the name). Everyone in this town loved to tell stories and old legends of the past. It was pretty refreshing to get the small town feel for us city folk. (Seattle, Salt Lake City). All of us being military, we of course brought some guns to shoot (it is Idaho!) and there is a place right by the house on Wildcat Gulch Road. Takes about 25 min after you take the left off the main road, but there is a great range spot on the right with an L shape shooting about 70 yards both ways. The local sheriff also told us of a spot right through Idaho City (15 min out). The range the police use is also open to public and has some long range options. Overall the trip was amazing and the cabin was a the perfect place to recharge after a hike. Felt like home and mountain views, clear skies, deer and wild turkeys roaming the property was a nice change of scenery. Thank you Bill and Nancy for letting us stay at your wonderful place!!

Driving up to the house you could easily see a buck. There is a family of deer on the property. As you walk into this beautiful log cabin you see the wooden beams, the stone fireplace, and the beer steins on the mantle. The beds are comfortable and there is definitely plenty of room for a family to spend the holidays.

Wilderness Ranch Cliftside Log Cabin
Oh my gosh!! This place is awesome, a true log home!! We practically lived on the beautiful deck that surrounds 3 sides of the cabin. If you do yoga you'll not find a nicer Zen deck on which to practice- aaahhh!! Comfortable outdoor furniture to view the abundant wildlife that visits morning and night. We so enjoyed the wild turkeys and elk as they wander through the yard and the hillside above! The home has a great supply of kitchen needs to prepare meals as there aren't many places to eat or shop nearby. Our only suggestion would be to improve the beds, the age of the mattresses was obvious. You do get some traffic noise from the paved road far below as it bounces up the canyon walls but, not enough to take away from the great views! Close Enough to Boise
Our stay was the first leg of our 2-week Idaho adventure. We wanted to stay close enough to Boise for a couple of nights to experience it, while not actually staying in the city. The cabin was about 30 minutes from Boise, which was perfect. The property was pretty private, well equipped and a stargazer's dream. It was a nice jumping off point for hot springs, whitewater rafting, hiking, etc. The wrap around deck was nice for relaxing throughout the day. William was very responsive to my pre-stay inquiries and to the couple if questions I had during our stay. If you are looking for a location near Boise, I recommend this one.

Picturesque and cozy
We were there just two nights, but so excited about the scenic views driving to and from the cabin, not to mention the view from the wrap-around porch. The only thing to note, though not a complaint, was that I had zero phone reception (Verizon user here) and no internet connection even after connecting to Wifi. My partner, also on Verizon, had a few bars which was strange. So if access to texts, maps, etc., is SUPER important, beware of that potential issue. We saw an assortment of wild life, including elk and deer, and were amazed at how bright the sky still was at 9:30 pm. Cabin had everything we needed and more. Would absolutely visit again!

Large, well equipped cabin in great location
Our family of 4 (all adults) had a nice stay at this cabin. It has a lived-in vibe but was clean and like staying at a friends place with a well stocked kitchen (extra food from previous guests), games and an enormous video collection. It was hot (>100) during our stay but the nights still cool down and the one large AC window unit, although noisy, sufficed during the day. The location was quite convenient to Boise and the surrounding area. This is not for folks looking for pristine, new accommodations but highly recommended for those seeking an authentic-style, spacious place to stay.

Fantastic views. Overall experience was great. Property Manager was very responsive, kind and courteous. Property is beginning to show its age, could use a deep cleaning and some new mattresses, but overall was good. The views were well worth it and the pictures were as advertised.

AMAZING weekend
A friend and I were looking for a place to get away and do some creative work for the weekend. We'd never been to Idaho and happened to find this place in VRBO. The pictures looked amazing, but it surpassed our expectations. The house is very large, you have everything you need on hand, and morning coffee on the deck overlooking the valley is a destination itself. We spent almost the entire weekend just at the cabin and wished we had another day. We only ventured out once to Boise, and it was a easy drive to get to great restaurants and an unexpectedly cool city. Cannot recommend this home enough.

This was a wonderful place to be away from it all, but right outside of the Boise area. Secluded amongst the trees, this cabin had all the amenities we needed for a long weeked. The owners and property manager were all very responsive. Would definitely stay again.

Serenity at its best
The cabin exceeded our expectations, clean, comfortable and quiet with stunning views. We had turkeys in the side yard, 2 young mule deer on one evening and we got to see elk most everyday! I highly recommend this wonderful cabin and hopefully we can return in the. Future!

Relaxing stay and Beautiful view at Wilderness Ranch @Boise, Idaho!!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at property #1870347 for our week long visit to Boise. The house is a lovely log cabin with a deck that gives you a beautiful view of the creek below and the mountains. It was a great way to relax and enjoy breakfast or morning coffee on the deck. We were here the first week of April and experienced grapple - also known as soft hail or snow pellets that forms 2-5mm balls of crisp, opaque rime. It was a fun to witness the weather change while watching it from the comfy living room. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of extra blankets if needed. Despite the cold weather outside, we never needed to use the fireplace and felt quite warm inside. We had daily visits on the property from wild turkeys and saw a herd of elk one morning too. We were glad that we rented a 4-wheel drive SUV as the roads in the subdivision are not paved and it made it easier to get around. The property manager also made a great suggestion to stop by the grocery store before getting to the house, as it's approximately a 35 minute drive to Albertsons. We have family who live in the Wilderness Ranch subdivision and it made it extra convenient to spend time with them and to have time to ourselves. It's the perfect location to be close to hiking on the Oregon trail, Table Rock, and rock climbing. It's located between the Boise airport/downtown Boise and Idaho City. We were able to use wifi and our cell phones during our stay, and our AT&T had a weak signal only a couple of times. We look forward to staying here again on our next visit to Boise!
