The facility and location are amazing, every detail has been considered on the property and facility however the staff training was lacking for such a hotel. You cannot operate a 5* hotel with 3* staff training. Potential to be amazing, but proper staff training required.

“Unlocking the Secrets: A Captivating stay in jail
During our recent stay at Bodmin Jail Hotel, my experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the attentive and friendly staff who made us feel welcome and valued. The check-in process was seamless and efficient, making it easy for us to settle into our room. Speaking of the room, it was absolutely stunning. The attention to detail in the design and décor was impressive, and it gave off a perfect blend of comfort and luxury. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep, and the amenities provided were of the highest quality. The only downside were the soft pillows, but this is usually the case in most hotels. The highlight of our stay, without a doubt, was the unique setting of the hotel itself. Staying at a converted jail added an extra layer of intrigue and fascination to our experience. The historical significance of the building was evident throughout, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring its rich past. Additionally, the on-site restaurant exceeded our expectations with its delicious menu and impeccable service. Lastly, I want to commend the staff once again for their exceptional level of service. Overall, our stay at Bodmin Jail Hotel surpassed all expectations. From the beautiful rooms to the fascinating setting and outstanding service, it truly was the definition of a sensational getaway. I highly recommend this establishment and can’t wait to return for another exceptional experience.

Great stay just a small minor.
Such a lovely hotel. A stay over for my wife’s 30th birthday. Wish we got there earlier so we could of done the attraction and visit the gift shop. The only downside was we had to ask for a side dish we ordered as that never came out with our food, plus both my wife & I ordered a steak we wasn’t given a steak knife to use and when asked, we was only given 1 to share between us. For a upscale restaurant I would of expected more.

Amazing! That’s it!
This place is truly amazing. To see the before and after photos, the owner has done an incredible job making this what it is. It’s fascinating and every turn, there is a cool feature in the brickwork or just around you. The dinner was top notch. The breakfast was top notch too. The champagne bar was perfect ambience for couples or those traveling alone. I didn’t want to leave but I’m on a road trip so had to move on. I’ll be back to this place for sure.

Unique amazing place
This is the most unique hotel I have seen. The rooms are amazing. Heated floors in the bathroom. Reception staff as friendly and helpful as they come. Food was incredible. I highly recommend.

The building is absolutely stunning and has been sympathetically converted from a ruin to a high quality hotel. The rooms have been designed from the old cells, and to a very high standard including the en suite bathroom, and each room having independently controlled air conditioning. I particularly enjoyed the interpretation panel in my room telling me about one of the former inmates who had been resident in that cell. The staff were polite and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The young lady in The Champagne Lounge was very friendly and made excellent cocktails. Best breakfast ever accompanied by excellent service. The tour was informative and entertaining. If you get the opportunity, stay!

Fantastic museum at the property. The room is amazing and front desk staff awesome. The restaurant staff was wonderful but the breakfast food was not good and the dinner options fairly average for the price. Hotel is all inclusive which is good because Bodmin itself was not a town for American tourists to just go for a walk in.

A night in Jail
Overall, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The Reception staff were welcoming and informative. Our cell was was something else, being three cells knocked together! The furnishings made the room extremely comfortable. Bathroom facilities were excellent except for requiring a plastic Ikea basin to be placed in the sink to allow wet shaves because there is no plug! This is because of listed building regulations. However, this being the case, a more shaped, up market insert basin would have been appropriate for an high end hotel. Take an electric razor! The Champagne Bar and Chapel Restaurant were fabulous. The food was a very tasty, well presented, four course meal with Champagne and Cocktails. The staff were very helpful and interested. The following day, we went to the Bodmin Jail experience that was so well done. An initial audiovisual presentation was thoroughly informative, followed by a visit to the museum section. All in all, the hotel and museum are very much recommended.

Amazing hotel experience let down careless errors
I have to say that this is one of the most amazing hotels I have stayed in for a long time. The conversion from jail to hotel has been done so sympathetically that you almost think it was purpose built as a hotel. The addition of the onsite attraction was an added bonus, answering all of your questions about what it was like before, etc. The food in the main restaurant was of an equally exceptional standard but unfortunately that was the source of a couple of issues which just shouldn't happen. My wife asked for the alcohol free beer but was told they had run out. Her next choice was a lime and soda but the lime had run out too. She was offered a soda water with a couple of slices of lime in it but this was charged at £1.20 for the soda water and £1.10 for the slice of lime! After a discussion the charge for the lime was removed. At dinner we ordered a bottle of Muscadet but were later told they didn't have any. When I asked for a Pinot Grigio that too was unavailable, and the same for the Sancerre. In fact the only white wines they did have started at about £80 a bottle... To be fair to the staff they were embarassed and, in the absence of any of any restaurant management, adopted a pragmatic solution of their own for which we were grateful. Fantastic stay in a fantastic hotel with a fantastic restaurant but much as I'd like I can't give it 5*

Good overall, excellent use of a character building. Service at dinner and breakfast was slow, bearing in mind there were only 4 covers in. Room was good, only one chair to relax in, we booked as a couple.

Had a great stay at this unique venue. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the room 'cells' were spacious, quiet with a touch of luxury. It was fascinating walking round the place and spotlessly clean throughout. Would definitely like to come back, especially as we missed the champagne bar.

Wow what an amazing place. We absolutely loved our stay here. The only thing missing is a pool and maybe a spa but I hear its on the plan .. That will be the cherry on the top either way we will defintely be back.

Stayed here for 2 nights this weekend just gone, the hotel was very clean, the underfloor heating in the bathroom was so lovely. Had breakfast both mornings and the food was good, very quick service each time. We had food in the chapel on our last night which was lovely, however there isn't a lot of choice of mains we felt, would be nice to see the menu expanded a little, especially if someone was a fussy eater. Staff were really lovely in the hotel, would definitely come back and recommend to others
