"This is our second stay and we'll stay again. I like the vibe of the hotel, with its relaxing lounge/drinks areas upstairs and downstairs and its laid-back, chic decor. Booked a patio room this time. Had concerns going in about street noise, due to patio rooms being on Level 1, and when we checked in we discovered construction works across the street, but the room was well soundproofed! Customer service excellent. Everything we needed ie cutlery and wine glasses, we could request at reception. Breakfast is basic hotel fodder and offers just enough variety. The mattress was firmer than we like, but not hard. Was shocked by the $11 credit card surcharge on our two-night room rate. CC surcharge on our reception coffees too. Not all hotels I stay in charge that much. Some don't charge at all. Either way, it's a sticker shock to see the rate you think you booked, jump $5.50 a night due to surcharge. All in all, however, we had a lovely stay. :)"

"Avani is a lovely new hotel close to the beach & cafes. The issue is when you are there over the weekend, which was our case. On the Saturday we thought it would be nice to go for a swim & have a quiet drink in the restaurant on the top level. When we arrived we couldn't even get a seat. It wasnt until we checked out that we were told that the restaurant was operated by a different company & they had booked other parties in on the weekend. As paying guests, we should have been advised of this, that the restaurant is run independently from the hotel which means you do not always have access to this facility."

"I was travelling with my elderly mum who isn't very steady on her feet. On the path to our room (370), we had to cross a short footbridge that had broken boards on it and was very unsteady. It had 4 warning bollards on the completely broken boards and holes but the whole bridge should have been blocked with a detour sign to tell us an alternate route - but we didn't know that there was another way to our room so we crossed it very carefully each time. It was really dangerous. I did do some exploration and found an alternate route, but we should have been told that by reception when we booked in - and the whole path should have been blocked. It's an accident waiting to happen."
