In front of your car, on the other side of the bamboo is your space. There are two entrances, one directly in front of you, with a half flight of stairs. Or you can go around back and enter through the back garden, which only has three steps to get in. The house was built in 1942 by an Italian farmer, there are lots of colors and clean lines. The furnishings of your space are very tasteful, mid-century, and modern. Organic linens and bedding, help make things more comfortable. We love our Farm! If there’s any sun out, we get it here, from sunrise to sunset, and very large windows to bring it in. We are located one block from Arcata City limits, in a pastoral valley that really truly is a family orientated farming community. The climate is lovely with the Coastal Seabreeze keeping the temperature mellow all year round. Your unit is bright and cheery with views of the pasture and gardens. It is cozy and simple with coved ceilings and hardwood floors. There is even a fenced in patio and garden space outside that is just for you. There are world class, surfing, mountain biking, horseback, riding, ocean and river, kayaking, rock climbing, right out our back door. Humboldt County boasts a vibrant, fishing community, home to some of the world’s largest trees, A very rare, pygmy Forest, nestled among coastal sand dunes, and incredible foraging for edible mushrooms in so so much more.

We stayed as an extended family of five with two dogs, and found that we had plenty of room. The owner is exceptionally friendly and generous. The kitchen has everything we needed, and there is a large dining table that fit us all. Although the building is a little rough around the edges, everything is clean, and there is an unusually thoughtful and beautiful oollection of local art work. With a 100 foot driveway you are well away from the main road and next to farm land. And you are only 10 minutes from Cal Poly Humboldt and the Arcata Plaza.
Unplug and unwind - we loved the rustic charm of this Bayside farmhouse. Beds were comfortable, and it was convenient to have the living room area (with sofa bed)as a 3rd bedroom option. Although we didn't cook, they appeared to have the basics you would need. Nice coffee/breakfast options close by...Bayside Farmstead cafe, Coffee Break.. we were gone most of the days/nights exploring the area and visiting my daughter in Sunny Brae - so we basically just slept there. We appreciated the greywater system, showers were fine. Only con would be, there is another rental with shared wall (they pointed out) so you could hear some muffled voices. Thank you Jeffrey - we enjoyed our stay:)

Overall we were slightly disappointed (is there a better word?). I realize we didn't pay for a 500 place, so we shouldn't expect that. The floors were a kind of dirty, but everything else seemed clean. The age of the place shows. It is nothing more or less than stated, but the story told isn't the reality I expected (my fault for reading more into it).The third bedroom is really a living room (as stated) with a strange couch (we thought fold out sleeper sofa). It slept fine but had no sheets (ugh). There was no microwave, which led to a longer cook time in the gas oven and later bed time after a long day :(. Lack of A/C meant the oven heat was to be endured during our meal. Creaky floors led to some disturbed sleep. No coffee for morning was disappointing. No TV (not missed really) seemed odd.Overall, it was fine. We got the sleep we needed. It was affordable, low cost really. We felt safe. It was quaint and authentic, a nice change from fast paced commercialized America. I would recommend staying here, just understand what you're getting.
