Short break in Bari
Conveniently located across from main railway station. Right next to main shopping area and 15 minute walk to sea and historic part of Bari. Good breakfast buffet. Friendly, helpful staff.

Good location, near Bari Central Railway station and buses. Right beside main shopping street, which leads directly to old city, all within walking distance .Lots of restaurants, cafes and bars . Staff were very helpful, but air conditioning did not work.

Nice hotel terrible air con
The hotel is nice enough for a short stay. Quick check in with decent sized rooms and a good breakfast. The air con in the room was however terrible! It was unbearably hot in the room (it was 31 degrees outside at midnight) so we had a very bad night's sleep - the only cool place seemed to be the hotel reception so I was tempted to go sleep there!

Location right near the station as I had an early morning train to catch. The staff allowed me to check in at least two hours before the official time on arrival date which I really appreciated. As breakfast was included and my train was leaving early O mentioned that I would not be able to make it so they had a take away pack ready for me which was wonderful. Extremely positive and helpful staff.

Pleasant large hotel opposite the main station
Very pleasant business-type hotel right opposite the station: our room had a good view of the main square containing the grand station building and the large coloured fountains. Good continental-style breakfast on the top floor with fresh cappucino and local breakfast cakes, as well as cereals and savouries. Bari offers some places of great character at reasonable prices in the old town, but our flight arrives at the airport late, so we need somewhere with a 24 hour reception to be sure of having a bed for the night! I stayed here six months earlier and decided to come back.

I would stay again!
Excellent location: directly across plaza from Bari Centrale train station, half block from regional train station for trip to Matera, other side of train station for regional bus to Alberobello. Around the corner is the main promenade with lots of eateries and shopping on your walk to and from the old town historic section. Good breakfast well stocked with options.

Excellent location, right in front of the train station and 1 block from a very pleasant pedestrian street full of stores and restaurants. The hotel is 10 min. from the historical center. The 2 only downsides were the street noise (acceptable if you shut the windows and use the air conditioning), and the bathroom that was a little outdated.

Handy for a short stop off in Bart
The decor and some of the fixtures and fittings at Leon D’oro are a little dated. However, the room was large and comfortable and well air conditioned. Ideal if you just need to spend one night in Bari on your way elsewhere as it is literally a 2 minute walk to the main station. I would recommend this hotel.

Needs Big Time Reno - Nice staff though
I needed a place to stay very close to the train station, so this is the perfect property. I'd seen the negative reviews, so I knew not to expect much. The staff were very nice and accommodating. They let me check in early and they changed my room (after hotels.com intervened) because there was no AC in the first one. The stand-up fan was a dead giveaway. The housekeeper made a good show of calling the desk pretending it was a surprise though. The second room had AC, though it wasn't the best, and there was a fan here too. So, it's a big problem. This hotel is perfectly positioned in Bari. It just needs a major overhaul, e.g., old bathroom fixtures that are really uncleanable at this stage, terrible mattress (one side better than the other), etc. Just really old and run down. But, a good deal for killing 6 hours if you're waiting for a train.

Hotel Air Conditioning was broken, not advised until we got to the room and it was hot and humid. Very little staff around, the fan provided in the room did not do anything to cool down. It was cooler in the hotel halls than the rooms.

2018 European trip.
When we arrived we were told there was a problem with the A/C. We said we would stay anyway because it was just a night’s sleep before our train at 6:00 am and the hotel was located right across from the train station. The problem, however, was that they failed to tell us it was about 104 in our room and the only air available was the patio door to our balcony. Leaving it open all night long is the only way we could survive. However, that survival came with a multitude of mosquito bites. I would have slept out on the balcony in a lounge chair, but there were no chairs. What good is a balcony without a single chair. The offer of a reduced rate would certainly have been in order considering the extreme heat. Even if a person agrees to stay you need to compensate them somehow for the adverse conditions. There were also lots of vagrants loitering in front of the hotel which made me uncomfortable. I would not stay here again.

Terrible hotel, the only thing I can say. No toilet paper in the bathroom. Floor haven't been cleaned at all, bathroom floor full of hair everywhere. Towel was places on separation from Bath, which was covered in a cream, resulting towel being covered in cream. Air conditioning broken, can't adjust temperature, only on/off and strength of conditioning. Outside temperature was around 30 degree and air conditioning was stuck on 22.5. Wouldn't call this air conditioning at all.

Hotel was fine for one night, location was excellent if you are transiting via train. But beware the overall area is sketchy..during day street people where selling was seemed to be stolen goods and at night the piazza was over run by kids up to no good.
