Great location next to the Basilica and hiking trails. Can’t beat the price for a small apartment in this remarkable place. Quiet at night, bird song in the early morning. If they could do something to improve the smell of moisture or mildew in the bathroom, and improve the water quality from the sinks, it would be nearly ideal. Loved my stay and would return.

The apartment was very comfortable and in a great location. It was a short walk to transportation, restaurants, museum, and the Basilica. The staff is personable and knowledgeable. We were given great tips for restaurants, times with smaller crowds, and events in Monserrat. Make sure you contact them at least 48 hours in advance for checkin arrangements. Also, be aware of your arrival time. The skyline and funicular are closed at 6:00 pm. There is a taxi available but get the number from the hotel before you travel.

Amazing experience at a great value. But only for the mountain trails. Two complaints: a large group of teenagers were playing on UNESCO monuments and littering. They were also screaming and chasing each other around, this is an ancient place that deserves more respect. The monastery also failed to mention the pedophilia and abuse cases emerging this year, I would not have paid the abbey anything if I knew.

A bit dated but nice
The apartments sind kind of dated but nice. Definitly wonderfully located for hiking in the area. The Checkin was a bit of stress. You have pick the keys at the Hotel not the Appartments. I liked it for three nights. The only bad thing was the smell in the bathroom, but I believe they were fixing the problem. The small kitchen has everything.

The location was breathtaking. The accommodation was very spacious with a seperate kitchen, bedroom and living area. The restaurant had the best food I have eaten in Spain.

Incredible Monserrat experience
Amazing apartment inside the monastery gave us an incredible experience in Montserrat. Its not easy to understand how to get to the apartment, as the check in was in a different building and the directions where not clear about parking, as you cannot park close to the apartments

We stayed 2 nights in the apartments. Very spacious with 2 bedrooms, each with 2 single beds, kitchen and eating area. It is simply decorated, but had all the essentials. Yes they are sparse, yes there are bells - it is a monastery! We loved the bells, and it was so great not to be rushing in and out of Barcelona on a day trip. It allowed us to attend the Vespers service and hear the monks and boys choir sing, experience beautiful sunsets and sunrises, and have a full day of great hiking. We had brought a lot of our groceries with us, and added a few extras from the market store - some reviews noted it was very expensive, but for a tourist location it didn't seem unreasonable - if you show your room ID they give you a discount on items. We didn't try the restaurant. We did have coffee and sandwiches from the cafeteria, and they were both good. When planning to stay, keep in mind you have to bring everything including shampoo, soap and dish soap and sponges - we forgot the dishwashing items but the market has little kits behind the counter, just ask for them. Not sure what else they might have stocked back there! The only downside is the smell in the bathroom that some people mentioned - a challenge with old pipes. And showering would have been easier with a curtain, but all doable with a bit of cleanup afterwards. We loved being in the area after most of the visitors and buses had left for the day - would highly recommend staying here!

Everything was great, very quiet, awesome view but the only thing because it’s located on a mountain the transportation is a challenge I’m Yerma that takes too long to reach the main touristic area and is better to have a car otherwise I enjoyed my stay.

We felt this was very good value for money. The location was uplifting, facing the cathedral and we quickly got used to the frequent bells. The rest of the time, it was very peaceful. The apartment was spacious, with two bedrooms and understandably plain and unornate. The kitchen facilities were fine for a short stay.

The accommodations were somewhat spartan but comfortable. The unit was clean and relatively spacious. We did not use the kitchen facilities in unit so I can not comment on the function of the kitchen. It served us well for our two night stay. Good WiFi.

Perfect for backpackers
Did not realize how off the beat and track these accommodations were. There is only one option for evening dining (the hotel restaurant) as all other shops close around 6pm. The room was similar to a hostel/camp grounds cabin. Had to make up our own beds upon arrival and the shower stall had no door/curtain so the bathroom would get quite flooded (probably why they left a mop in the bathroom). Probably should have done a bit more research on the location as we did not realize it was situated on the same grounds as an active monastery and basilica which meant there was a crucified jesus in our sitting room along with another religious picture hung in the bedroom, not to mention the numerous statues etc scattered all throughout the grounds. For a non-catholic it was a little off putting to say the least and we only ended up staying 1 of the 3 nights we had booked.

Main downside was construction of another apartment block starting work at 8am each day. Otherwise the apartment was lovely, right by the monastery and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

Simple accommodations in a very peaceful setting. Not fancy, but all the essentials and nothing more. Worth staying overnight here to get the full experience of Montserrat.

Great place for meditation and distress!
I love my stay at Monserrat; the place is incredible magical. I hiked the mountains; enjoyed the museum and the mass was incredible! The cathedral is beyond beautiful!

Best vacation stay ever!
I booked the accommodations by mistake, not realizing how far we were outside Barcelona. The best mistake I ever made! We had never heard of Montserrat and ended up spending our time here rather than exploring Barcelona. I didn't realize I was renting apartments for my extended family (rather than a hotel room....despite the name!), and so was unprepared (no groceries, shampoo etc). Do yourself a favor and book these apartments! Just be more prepared than we were. Great value in one of these most beautiful locations I've ever explored.

Ok if you are religious
First, there is no air condition in the apartments , at night it cools down a bit but you have to leave windows open exposing you to mosquitos and other bugs. The church plays their bells every hour in the middle of the night which makes it hard to sleep especially if it is temperature hot. Most tourists only come for the day and at night most are gone and the place is really quiet, except when the bells go off

Dorm room style apartment at beautiful Montserrat.
I was so impressed with Montserrat that I didn't want to leave. The scenery was absolutely stunning! Our apartment was basic, but clean, with a fully equipped kitchen, large dining table, two single beds and large windows facing the mountain and courtyard below. You must check in at the hotel up the street first. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Downstairs from the apartment is a little store where I could by things to make dinner...the chocolate and olive oil were fabulous. There is also a cafe, gift shops down the street, two other cafe's (one with a stunning view and a restaurant in the main hotel. We visited the museum which was reasonably priced at 8 euro, very impressive, beautiful artwork, both religious and otherwise. The cathedral interior is the most beautiful I have seen in my travels. There is a tram you can take to the top of the mountain and many walking and hiking trails. I would return to this beautiful, spiritual place, perhaps staying longer than two nights.

This was the highlight of my month in Spain! Absolutely stunning, breathtaking views and atmosphere. Even though my rating doesn't rate it a 5* it is a definite must to do for me and will highly recommend it!

A beautiful and exciting location.
The apartment,which was managed by the nearby hotel was super value for money. It was spacious and superbly situated at the start of some of the most dramatic walks imaginable. Across the road was the cable car ,should you want rapid uplift. The kitchen was well equipped but no oven. The bedroom was twins but ,I believe, doubles were available. Beds were not that comfortable, but after long walks,they were adequate. We ate at the hotel. Excellent value for money. We had the set three course which was very nice indeed and menus changed every day. Wine was very reasonable, starting at around €13 for many and cava started around the same price. Wine list was extensive but mostly Spanish. Some expensive wines available at a premium. Free wifi,although,when we arrived it was slow. After that it was OK. A word of warning: the apartment is close to the monastery and loud bells early in the morning could require earplugs! Montserrat is a beautiful walking area. But be aware,there are no cafes on the mountain,so be sure to take your own food and drinks. This was our third visit to this lovely area ,but our first time using accommodation there. I would advise doing the same because it's lovely and quiet after the day trippers have left. The main cafe is large and self service in the village. There is an excellent cafe immediately across the road from the apartment. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Great value and location
Excellent location and good size rooms including kitchen and dining. Beds are make your own, single and very firm. Bathroom small and no shower curtain but clean and functional. Kitchen had everything we needed except detergent. We were very happy with it for the price.

Easy to see Montserrat
This is a nice place, but it's recommended to bring along your own food if you stay for more than a couple of days. If you are in to hiking, it's a good location for that, otherwise, it's good to just hang out for only a day and a night.

Unique place: Nature, culture, spirituality.
The apartments are simple and elegant with a large living-room with large table for 8 people. Apartments with large windows and extraordinary views in an incredible and espectacular location. Ideal place for hiking with many degrees of difficulty. The Montserrat Monastery has a complex and rich history within Catalan culture. The singing at morning and evening is outstanding. The apartments are next door to the Monastery. The beautiful and laud sound of the bells start at 6am. An extraordinary for the adventurous mind.

Beautiful simplicity
This place is amazing- quiet, beautiful, & lots of hiking. There's also lots to see within tge monestary itself or a quick train ride to close towns. Renting the apartment was perfect since it came with a kitchen & I could cook for myself every day. But, print directions before arriving, taxi drivers don't know where it is & cannot find it on gps; if you're arriving after 8pm the trains are not running so taxi is the only way to get there. The rooms are very simple but worth the cost.

You're going to Montserrat for the mountain and church - both of which are right next to you from the Apartments. We enjoyed getting out of barcelona to a quieter placed. The mountain is amazing, definitely worthy of a visit. The apartments are simple - surprisingly large, thought the bathroom and kitchen was a touch small. In any case, a great deal and we were able to cook which was nice. Even though we were staying in fancier hotels in barca, we didn't feel disappointed with this plac at all.
