Our newly-remodeled and extremely welcoming apartment, El Grec de Barcelona, combines all of the modern conveniences with a unique design and fabulous Modernist Period High Ceilings, Large Windows, Balconies and Hydraulic Floors. The apartment can sleep six: 2 bedrooms with King-sized beds, one with full bed, and a sofa bed for an additional adult guest or two small children. This flat is a classic possessing high ceilings, enormous windows, renovated hydraulic tile floors, but still offers access though a lift/elevator! The dining room and small adjunct living room are all filled with light from the enormous glass doors to the balconies that overlook Meditació down below...

The apartment's location, the barrio of Eixample, is characterized by long straight streets, a strict grid pattern crossed by wide avenues, and square blocks with chamfered corners (named "illes" in Catalan, and "manzanas con chaflán" in Spanish). This was a visionary, pioneering design by Ildefons Cerdà, who considered traffic and transport along with sunlight and ventilation in coming up with his characteristic octagonal blocks, where the streets broaden at every intersection making for greater visibility, better ventilation and (today) some short-stay parking space. The grid pattern remains as a hallmark of Barcelona. The important needs of the inhabitants were incorporated into his plan, which called for markets, schools, hospitals every so many blocks. Today, most of the markets remain open in the spots they have been from the beginning. You will find something to suit every taste in this area, design and fashion shops, relaxing parks and a range of bars and cafes to have your morning coffee in. There are also a good number of restaurants, bars and discos for those looking for some of the nightlife Barcelona is so famous for. (World renowned TICKETS is a mere 10 minute walk- away!!!) In fact, there are so many tapas bars and restaurants in the vicinity of the apartment - and in Eixample in general- that you will find it hard to decide where to have your meal! Likewise, you will find it difficult to resist the temptation to stop and try out the pastries and breads at the local bakeries located around every corner of this city's most welcoming neighborhood... :-)

Some parts of the Eixample were influenced by Modernist architects, chief among whom was Antoni Gaudí. His work in the Eixample includes the Casa Milà (nicknamed La Pedrera) and the Casa Batlló, both of which are on the wide Passeig de Gràcia, as well as the Sagrada Familia.

The apartment's location, parallel to the main city thoroughfare of Gran Via and within a minute's walk of the metro line, allows you to be at all of Barcelona's famous landmarks within the blink of an eye. The Sagrada Familia Basílica is, for example, only seven minutes - five metro stops - away. And famous Paseo de Gracia, where Casa Batlló and La Pedrera are located, is in the same barrio of Eixample as our property. The Paseo and Gaudí houses are thus only a three minute - or three metro stops - ride away! Plus Plaza España, Fira Barcelona, the new commercial center Arenas de Barcelona, Montjuïc, and its 'Magic Fountain' are just a five minute walk - or one 1 minute metro - ride away!

Even though the apartment is located near a busy street, two of the bedrooms' windows face the building's interior courts, and the master bedroom is windowless, so you experience absolutely NO street noise when sleeping at night.

Perfect location
This apartment was just right. Location was perfect - easy access to metro and short walks to lively restaurants & bars. Bakeries and markets nearby. Quiet neighborhood, but dynamic at the same time. Apartment was clean, simple and spacious. Plenty of room for our family - with 2 college-aged sons. Milena was on top of everything and extremely welcoming. Would stay again.

Great apartment with great location
The apartment was very nice and perfect for two couples. Miguel and the property manager Milena made everything easy from booking to check-in to check-out. The apartment was located in a very nice neighborhood with many bakeries, grocery stores, restaurants and a metro stop all within a few blocks. We would book this property again on our next visit.

We loved this apartment
This was our 2nd trip to Barcelona. Last visit we stayed a little to close to the action and had a hard time relaxing in our short-term rental. This time was MUCH better. This place is a few metro stops away from all the sites. It is walkable to Park Montjuic, which we did on our first day. We really felt like locals in this slightly less "fancy" neighborhood. There was still plenty of great eating places around (for much cheaper prices). We had a nice grocery shop about 50 yards away from our front door. The apartment itself had everything we needed. Cozy beds, a nice sitting area, two showers so we didn't need to share as much space (no simultaneous showers though if you want hot water). Our hosts were very responsive. The door got stuck on the laundry washer, and they fixed it promptly. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Barcelona Experience!
Great stay at Miguel’s property for a week in November. Located in a cool neighborhood close to so much where you truly get to soak in the Barcelona culture! What made this an even better experience was the advance communication with Miguel and check in/check out personal touch from Milena, who was so kind and helpful. Would highly recommend this property for a visit to Barcelona.

We very much enjoyed our stay here! The location is great and the apartment is fully equipped and very clean. Milena the property contact, met us upon arrival and took as much time as necessary to familiarize us with the apartment. From the moment of booking, the owner was particularly quick to respond, answer all questions, and give us a detailed list of nearby restaurants, stores etc. There were 5 of us and there was plenty of room. We would definitely recommend that you consider this location for a wonderful stay in Barcelona!

Great neighbourhood
Check-in was seamless. The area has lots of restaurants and tapas bars to choose from. We stayed a week and walked everywhere. Milenà was a great source of information. One bedroom didn’t have a window and the other looked into an enclosed space. That turned out to be fine, because there was practically no street noise at night.

Perfect for our group!
This beautiful apartment was perfect for our group of friends. It was the perfect amount of privacy, but had a nice common area for us to sit in. We had breakfast on the balcony each morning and relaxed on the couch with the doors open during our down time. Very conveniently located. We had a minor problem with the air conditioning, but the property manager fixed it right away! I would definitely stay here again.
