You can see the fishing boats from the hotel. About 15 minutes walk in to the main town, recommend tree hugger cafe for coffee and juices.

Dong Hoi is calmer and quite compared to Hanoi and a place for a night or two while travelling south or as a stop to Phong Nha for the caves. "
