Lovely country house hotel
We had a family Sunday lunch here and then stayed overnight. The lunch was lovely, in a grand setting and with excellent service. We had a small room on the mezzanine floor, but it had a separate living room with a TV and was very pleasant. Our only criticism would be that the bath had only a hand shower and no curtain or screen, so if you just wanted a shower you couldn't avoid getting the floor wet. This may not be true of other rooms. The breakfast was good, except for the avocado on toast, which was mushy and unappetising. The house is impressive and has a fascinating history, and the surrounding parkland is lovely, and well worth walking around.

The sheer luxury of the hotel, combined with the facilities at the Spa. My wife had nail treatment. I was able to swim & sauna every morning.

We stayed here whilst attending the British Grand Prix. Absolutely stunning grounds, beautiful hotel. Our room was amazing. I'm disappointed we didn't get a chance to explore the grounds due to lack of time. Staff were friendly, helpful and their knowledge of the house and its history was outstanding. You could tell they were all extremely proud of their workplace. Would I go back? In a heartbeat!! The only gripe was the parking, the carpark is small and not easy to manoeuvre in, we struggled for space 2 nights out of 3 and had to park in the drop off spaces. The staff did not seem to mind though. We felt we were spoiling photo opportunities for other guests having our car outside the main doors.

The meal was very average and the menus too restrictive. The wine was not up to anything like the value of the bottle as charged. The building and grounds are magnificent the hotel just needs to chill a bit and relax and cater for more people, better choices. The pianist was lovely.

Beautiful hotel and surroundings
Amazing hotel in beautiful gardens with fantastic staff. The rooms are very traditional and rightly so, as they are in keeping with the surroundings. The bed was very soft though and also very small for the size of the room, so that's one area that I think should be modernised.

This historic hotel is as expected, the public rooms are stunning. Bedroom/bathroom decor is a little tired and chintzy. Breakfast was ok could have been better with freshly squeezed juices. Staff all very friendly and helpful.

Lovely hotel and fantastic spa!
This is a beautiful hotel. It felt like a peek behind the curtains of life in olden times. My daughter and I went on the circular walk and saw swans, ducks, cows and lovely old trees. The spa is second to none with friendly, helpful staff. We had the most fabulous back massage and the lady made us feel very comfortable. The only thing I found uncomfortable about our stay was the way the lady at reception spoke when we checked in. She was in what felt like pushy “sales” mode - will we be having dinner/breakfast. We had planned to but she put us off and we tried to avoid reception for rest of stay, eating elsewhere!

A beautiful building, a real privilege to get the chance to stay here. Staff were very professional but not very welcoming. A couple were great particularly the breakfast staff but others seemed to be performing an act. Sometimes the front door was opened for us and sometimes not, what is the point of that?

This is a stately home owned by the National Trust and we feel fortunate to have stayed in such an amazing building, almost like it was our own home. The staff were so friendly and helpful - nothing too much trouble. Although some facilities were not available due to COVID, our 4 day stay couldnt have been nicer - a truly wonderful break!

Whilst the House is still lovely, the Courtyard properties are pokey. Hartwell House communication during Covid could be improved.

Following the reopening of Hartwell House on 16th July after the Government dictated four-month closure, guests who have stayed subsequently have praised our communication and the measures and the adaptations introduced for guest and staff safety. We are sorry that we could not address the comments of this reviewer at the time of their stay, with a view to understanding their comments about their accommodation, or offering alternatives if they were available at the time.

Incredible venue, the property itself is stunning in beautiful ground to walk around. The service was outstanding and staff could not do enough to help. We ate at the restaurant which was a really special experience and took a chance to relax in the spa. Needless to say, we'll be back!

Wonderful location in the middle of an attractive park. Public rooms were striking, great period ceilings and walls. Bedroom was large and comfortable. And the breakfasts and dinners were excellent. The sports facilities in the spa were the cherry on the top. It was not cheap but definitely excellent value for money. If you need a place to stay to tour Bucks, this is the one. The only negative is nearby Aylesbury, the roads are a maze and the signage is quite appalling -- in some cases you could only find where you were intending to go by approaching from the opposite direction. Even Satnav was confused !

I booked this property as a treat to myself and thought it would be superb - it was better than that. From the minute I arrived to the minute I left I felt thoroughly spoilt. Someone was always available if required, and helped when I had an "issue" with the television set. I also had a massage at the Spa whilst here, I just wish I had booked a longer one, it was so relaxing. I can thoroughly recommend this Hotel.

This was just a gorgeous English historic house. The staff were amazing and extremely polite and professional. Our room was actually a suite with fabulous furniture and amenities. The grounds were fabulous for walking and the millions of snowdrops were awesome We could not recommend it more highly. Fabulous!

Fantastic overnight stay with meals and spa treatments. All our meals were of a high level and enjoyed by everyone. Treatments were also of a high level. The decor is in keeping with an old country house, so if you are expecting modern , this is not the hotel, however everything was of a great standard, room was lovely and warm. Staff, and dealing with any issues we had (nothing to do with the hotel) all fantastic.
